Larry why do you think Olson accepted this purchase being 2000 miles way and knowing that he would not be able to service it?? Do you think Olson should of told Dave to deal with his local disty or did he? Most national companies have protected territories for their distributers and would not have allowed this sale in the first place. ie cutting the other guys grass. Regardless of any body trying to point the finger at Dave SS is the source responsible for taking care of this problem.
first off, Mardie, I'm not "pointing fingers" at anyone...just making observations and sharing personal thoughts .
just my "call 'em as i see 'em" way
No clue why John decided to take on the project..it's a biz decision he made obviously cause he thought it was in his best interest .
as far as if i think he should of declined??...he didn't ask me, and he's a better biz man than I (almost everyone is
)
but i think there were too many "potential" after sale problems that he'd be unable to address ..that would of given me serious pause for concern and think
long and hard about taking on the project.
I don't know anything of SS's policy of "protected territories" ...or even
if they have such...I'm not privy to such info.
I personally DO like to support my local disty though, cause it supports my local economy
So unless they don't have what I use, or someone else is
substantially less, there's no reason for me to go elsewhere
Maybe Dave got a $weetheart deal? ..and that's why he went so far from home..i donno...but again, I think it was a dumb move for
all involved do to the risks vs rewards potential
