My RPM guage has been jumping around for the last few days.....and then today it just quit working....stopped at 0.

I was able to set the machines RPM..... off the UD trucks RPM dash guage..... to keep working.

There are no loose connections, on the backside gauge panel and it has power because the light works.

Has anyone had a similar problem to this??

No update on RPM guage.

It's definately an intermittent problem. It will work sometimes....

I'm waiting for my Electronics diagnostic friend to get home from vacation and help me fix this GREMLIN.

I am about 80% sure that there is a problem with my Magnetic Speed Sensor, or "Tach Sensor".

It is located on the drivers side, and bolts into the top of the transmission housing.

When I wiggled the connection wires, there was a fluctuation with the guage...but after disconnecting it and plugging it back together...guage stopped working again.

Time to call Aerotech....to find out a price on this propriarity part.

No need to call for service... loosen the 2 nuts on the sensor and turn it in gradually until it starts reading again. You may need to remove the 2 bolts and clean the bottom of the sensor as well

Yes, and it is pretty simple....

As you turn it in have someone watch the gauge...once you are reading tighten the 2 large nuts against each other and off you go :)

Sometimes you need to remove the bolts that hold the bracket in place to get a couple of wrenches on the nuts...also, when those bolts are tight it tweaks that bracket a little making it hard to turn the sensor...so, try loosening the mounting bolts a fuzz, and then adjust your indicator.... hope that helps

The more input the merrier on these trucks, now that nobody really works on them, or knows much about them... lol
A company out in Utah bought them out and have been a help to me from time to time...

Great tip!

Thanks and welcome to MB

I spoke with this gentleman on the phone today...he is also having problems with his truck...He also PMed me and here is what his problem is....

I've got issues with my UD1400... I have a feeling that it is directly related to the vortex 7000 because Nissan has never heard of my issue...
Sometimes when accelerating from a stop the truck will not go over 1,000-1,500 RPMs...you can get up to 35 mph over a good distance but it is very doggy...
I've had the truck into a service shop where they've gone through every system, fuel, coolant, trans.....and so on

When this issue occurs, I need to come to a stop, shut the truck off, and restart it to correct the problem. It may or may not happen again in a few miles, or days...

after talking with him I think he has a solenoid not allowing it to shift but this is one of those problems that is going to be hard to pin point...any one else have any ideas that may help him....????

he only has 75000 miles on the truck...so I ruled out a dirty transmission filter...
we went through the diverter...its not stuck closed .....
