Quick question about live hose reels. For those who run live reels does it impact your suction? I run an older apex and my next purchase will bean electric hose reel. Just debating if it should be live or not.

do you think the suction would be better threw 100ft of hose or 200ft of hose?
Saiger would be the guy to ask since he can run both and could tell you the difference

that push button switch does not break as easy as you think..and the last thing I want to do is to have to lean into a reel to push a button....2 broken teeth and a permanent blood blister on my lip is what happens when you are forced to stay to close to the reel holding down a button and a cuff breaks....that is the entire reason I go with a heavy duty hand held switch..so I can stay back from the reel....and still control the wrap of my hose.......

you will have a suction loss if you use the live vacuum reel..use the electric reel for rolling up your hose...pull off what you need and hook that length directly to the machine....do not use it as a live reel..........

I hate live solution, cooked too many hoses un-necessarily. I do like live vacuum but we no long have any of them live but not for a loss of vacuum but because of adding an inline lint filter.

I've never cooked a hose...even with the screaming heat that the 570 gives me...when I am finished..I put a open male QC in the end and open it up and let it cool down while I am cleaning up....

and the windtrax swivels are bullet proof....I have been using them on different trucks for over 4 years..I have a total of 6 right now on 2 trucks...I have rebuilt 3 since I started using them and 2 of them were fresh water lines.....$30 swivel and a $12 rebuild kit that you may not even need...you can't beat it.........

Jim I think it just did it because its sat on the spool. You can pull it all off the spool each time but then what's the point of live doing that.

It got so hot it melted the inside hub that look like some sort of 1-inch thick plastic. It did it on two different trucks, so we still use the reel but its no longer live.

I'd like to qualify R.C.'s statements.
Anything he says should be prefaced with the sentence: "Believe you me, cause I've heard it straight from my employees, swear to God".
For example:

Believe you me, cause so I've heard it straight from my employees, swear to God- Flame throwers! they burned their wrists disconnecting the solution hose to connect to the hydroforce. :winky:

You don't to run the vac reel live....get as much off the reel as you need...plug off the rest of the live reel or run no live reel at all....

High Pressure water lines....yes....we like them live...

My new set up with a better hook up to the front now...

You need to loan the machine to Saiger for a month. He would have that switch all polished up for you---Aaron would probably do it for him...

Or loan it to Richard, He would have one of his brothers guys polish it for you...

I really, really, REALLY like my vac hose reel out the side, but that is a sweet set-up with the shelving like that.

I really, really , REALLY DON'T. I've always worked out the back and this new TM I have is a side mount.

Of course, I didn't care for the Zipper much at first either, and love it now. So, this side door set up may grow on me eventually.

Some side door Xipper work this morning:
