Low, but barely low. Took like 2 small chugs and it was full again.
If you're interested, once you get the pulley on your pump. If you send me your clutch, ill see if i can rebuild it for ya. I just did mine for 28 bucks and 15 minutes laborbench tested it with a new magnet, good as new!

Id have to see what you did.i just drilled thru the rotor/ pulley that lined up with the slots in the armature. If you drilled into the armature and rotor/pulley id have to see. But if its structurally sound i don't see a problem but you'd have to send a picture

It took a little bit of coolant again. If there is a bad head gasket would motor oil first appear in coolant, or would coolant first appear in the motor oil? I'd think that the motor oil is under higher pressure and one would see evidence of oil in the coolant first...

A blown head gasket would generally show coolant in oil. Your thinking of the engine like or acting as a heat exchanger would. Generally a head gasket blows in ir at the cylinder and high pressure gasses enter cooling system and when the engine isn't running coolant enters the cylinder and leaks thru the rings to the oil. You would have check engine light and cylinder misfire codes.you can check for head gasket blown/ cracked block with a simple test where you put a chemical in a tube and put it over the radiator inlet . With it you draw air outa the radiator and if there's any hydrocarbons ( evidence of cylinder leak) the chemical changes color ( from blue to yellow ). But why are you even going there??? Are you having problems or is it the fact that for 2 days now you've had to add coolant and your mind is playing tricks with you?? (Chicken little syndrome)

That's why you need to insulate your van.

You think target shooting spray insulation wherever I can get it without removing shelves and much of the TM would make a big difference? Scuff up the sheet metal, drape some plastic, and go for it?

It's a bit more than my coolant being a touch low for 2 days. I've had a check engine light on for months, went and had it checked out at an excellent mechanic shop and they said there are 4 different codes, and when they cross referenced those codes with my van on the "bulletin" (not sure what that is) they said it is most likely an air intake manifold gasket leak.

The thing is the van runs great, and sounds great, even the ace mechanic verified that. And the guy I bought the van from just had a minor engine rebuild done which included a new camshaft, new head gaskets, new exhaust manifold gasket, and a new air intake manifold gasket, and a few other engine doo-hinkies. He showed me the receipts and I met his mechanic that did it. So, maybe they screwed up on the minor rebuild. Not sure. But my throttle controller shuts down on almost every job now, definitely due to the ECU throwing codes. I've checked all the wires, replaced the brake pedal sensor, and its a new throttle controller.

I don't really feel like paying for someone to do an air intake manifold gasket. I don't even think there's a problem with the dang air intake manifold gasket. But! Whatever, I just keep manually depressing my gas pedal to hit the right rpms for my TM and said the heck with it. Works well enough. I have a sweet manual throttle setup with a reversed wood clamp and an L bracket and a small pair of vise grips.

So, not really a chicken little thing. I'm just trying to pay attention to whatever signs she gives me kind of thing. Because something ain't right. Yet I am happy to operate it as is for another 100k miles if it doesn't get weirder.

An intake manifold gasket leak would cause High idle.. I scored a van from a plumbing company because they couldn't figure it out.. I plastic welded the pinhole leak in the plastic intake manifold due to the #8 cylinder rocker spring breaking and causing a fireball back into the intake.. The plumbing company had it fixed but couldn't figure out the high idle..

My mechanic friend knew exactly the problem and we had it up and running great in 2 hours..

That's cool. Nice work Nate. Brilliant easy fix. I don't have a high idle though, now I am even more confident my air intake is fine. The van runs and sounds mint. I've read some disheartening threads where guys throw thousands of dollars chasing engine codes in situations like mine and don't even get it resolved.

Are you in an area where you don't have regular smog checks? Or do you have to have one every couple of years?where i am im only required to hget one upon sale

We get smog checks. Funny thing, they tell us to go and get our emissions test done once every 2 years. It costs $20. I failed and then got a notice from them several weeks later after I didn't go and get it retested. The notice said:

"If you do not pay this $20 fine for failing to get your emissions test done, then your registration will be canceled."

So I paid them the $20 late fee. 😄

Seriously, a friend of mine told me it's the weirdest thing in our state. The language of the notice plainly tells you that if you pay the $20 fine then you're basically good to go. He's been doing that once every 2 years as an alternative to going through emissions and has had no problem with registration or anything. So far it is the same with me 🤷‍♂️

People have said the same on Reddit threads in our state. When it is time to renew the registration, just go to the DMV and get a temp, take emissions a week later and fail it, they give you the regular registration at your next DMV appointment anyway regardless of pass or fail as long as you take the emissions test, don't retake the emissions test after that and pay the $20 penalty when it gets mailed to you, good to go for 2 years until the next emissions test. Repeat.

I suspect they just want money, and if you can't register your car they lose on both emissions and registration fees. So it's a facade and they allow you to quietly keep paying and driving.
