Probably because they wanted his system since he did $178,000 his first year and $225,000 the second with only part time help on big jobs.

Despite what some would have us believe carpet cleaning businesses haven't been selling for years, for the most part they liquidate. I'm part of an investment group that has bought outright or purchased the assets of 1/2 dozen businesses since this recession started. We don't even look at service businesses. Having attended 60 plus bankruptcy /business auctions and bid on over 75 deals I can tell you that most off the times service businesses sell for liquidation value, even when they are currently operating. The market will come back for service businesses but it's not there now. People are looking for hard assets and established franchises or multi-unit operations that have franchise potential.

If $1kaDay wants to post the name of the investment group that he claims acquired his firm I can look them up, ad frankly it's a small universe so we have probably come across them, if they exist.
I'm betting the whole story is 98% bullshit.

In over 20 years I have never met anyone that did $178,000 their first year, as an owner operator. That alone flags the post.

Ratmoves is the primary company that the group owns, a large broker for auto transportation for dealers across the country. They started a CC business (Clean Choice), they also own a software company and several others that I don't remember. There primary avenue for growing their companies is the acquisitions...

Phil B (I believe his is VP) is the guy I made the deal with, Jeff T is the GM of Clean Choice

Mike asked me to tell a little about myself and I did, I don't really care what some of you cynical smucks think. You can't poke holes in what I have said because It's true. And whether you believe it or not is really irrelevant.

I will jump on this forum and contribute when I can, and try to help others in areas the I excel in. And learn something about things I need to improve on...so go conduct your little investigation inspector gadget and please by all means report back your findings...

And on final comment about doing $178K my first year, I had no idea what a suppose to make...nobody told me I was only suppose to make $50K a year...so I just went to work everyday applied the things I had learned from past experiences and it just happened. You would be amazed how much you can accomplish if you don't let others tell you what your suppose to accomplish.

Obviously you can understand our skepticism. I appreciate your answering my questions. if you got six figures for a 2 year old business congrats. just seems pretty unbelievable given the economy at the time.

I didn't lie to you guys...and I wasn't trying to show up anyone or come off as some bad a$$ (well maybe) but I was just sharing my story to try to establish some credibility to maybe help others...looks like I did the exact opposite...

I would say that this guy is believeable, given he's in the SoCal market. Everything down there is expensive....cleaning, housing, gas.....food. If I was to experience, everyday, the income I have been making in the last few weeks, I, too, would be at $1k a day. A few questions, though:

1) Seem's like you're offering a whole lot of cleaning options with only yourself working. How did you manage that?
2) SoCal is full of migrant and illegals cleaning carpets for next to nothing. How is it that custys call you, instead of the lower priced guys?

Again.....I could be making that kind of $$$$$ here in cheap Ohio, but I would be killing myself or busy running crews. And I'm old enough to be your Father!

BUT with that thrown out there.....there are weeks i only work 2 or 3 days....then there are weeks i work 6 and 12 hrs each day...

and i try to be "around" the family more then most of you....

if i truly decided to crank on it (oh shit who am i kiding...i hate that BS SELLING word) anyway....i am sure i could notch it up a few...and theres times i wish i was there.

Second paragraph customer identifies me as GM....I am not portrayed in a very good light, and yes I see the shots coming already with the reviews posted earlier however there was nothing I could do for this lady, the company would not refund her money so my hands were tied...I did bill over $10k against the company in the service department to try to make it right for this lady....

I have the sales agreement drawn up for the sale of my business to Clean Choice but there is no way to load an attachment on this forum? How about I email it to Mike?

My original agreement was to sell Above and Beyond for $115,000 and be able to continue operating a tile and grout company (that's why I started Clean Slate) the equipment was valued at $25K in the transaction the rest was for websites and customer base "Good Will"...The agreement also gave them first right of refusal to buy Clean Slate which shortly after this agreement I thought I was going to relocate so I went ahead and sold them Clean Slate as well for an additional $19K (new website, trailer and prochem performer).

I can also show you emails with Phil B of me not sure if I even want to do the deal because I didn't want to give up $200k plus a year, but in the end I knew I would never get a chance to cash out like this again...

Thing is, things are really not any different here that they are over there. Over there, they (led by Rob) attack Jim Martin every time he posts. Nobody helps people like Jim, but they attack him for reasons unknown, but appear to be simply because he posts here.

I have seen the same thing happen here, and so have all of you.

In both places the tone is set by the board bucket head and ego-driven Witness, respectively.
