You must not deal with tufted rugs all that much. Just like the bad latex, we get at least 10 rugs a year brand new that we send back to a company because of poor tuft bind. We even dropped an entire line of rigs because of this problem. It is the retailers job to make sure the rugs pass the final quality check. But with so many wholesale rug sellers online, a lot of the junk tufted gets put in. Heck we would love to only sell hand knots and woven rugs, but people there are too many customers that insist on the nicer tufted rugs based on price point. So you either sell them, or you lose your customers to the box stores. Then when the rugs wear out, they usually return to buy a better woven or hand knotted rug.
So it's not proper over vacuuming, it's defects in the product. Combined with over aggressive vacuuming. I,ve seen the older dyson among other vAcuums destroy a perfectly good rug in about six months.
