Is It Moroccan?

I'm making a completely wild-ass guess that this rug is Moroccan. It's got messy knots on the back, it bleeds if you look at it sideways - but the yarns aren't as colorful as I feel like they should be. What do I have here?

It's actually afghan these are sold as or referred to as Pende Turkoman particularly by the "old Timers" which really isn't totally accurate but close enough.
