Owned by San Mateo county so I'll assume it was well maintained
New tires
Runs like new
AC
Cruise Control
5.3 V8
To insure it and the Lunchpail should cost about $90 a month

$4500 out the door.

I'm thinking this thing is going to get plenty of use, at least once a week we go into the forest or over the hill where the V is not always needed.

That's the best way to get a used van. I've bought vehicles from the university here. they are always maintained excellent and with low, low miles. You got a great deal on that van, it should last a long time.

I used to drive one of those with a former company I worked for. It had the 5.3 and it was very reliable, I really like that van. They ended up switching me into a Ford and I always missed the Dodge.

I have heard that they can develop tranny issues, but you're only using it for a back up, so you should be fine.

Les loves these vans.

So,you gonna paint it black, right? Then you can intercept the Coit guy and get some new perspectives.
I had a 99,no problem just Dodges are the narrowest of all.

I had my Judson TNT in a Dodge when I first got it. It ran like a Swiss watch. It was a very good truck and had similar mileage to yours.

Les thinks the Pail will go in the back and the reel on the side, but I'm not sure yet.

Not sure about that safety wall either.

Probably have more access in the back. You going to repaint in there. Yeah I agree that headache wall seems well used.

I like 'em mounted in the rear.
The biggest draw back is less efficient use of floor space.
The benefits out weigh the draw backs IMO.

easier to work on and service
Better coiling
can point the exhaust and noise away from entrances
Hoses out the side door are better/more efficient.
You won't have a hot TM directly behind your over large mEllOnhEd when going from one cali fruit's house to next cali nut's house

What, if any, effect do you think "Re-refined oil" has had on the engine? I haven't heard any testimonials on this.

Good Morning!!! (IDIOT HERE)

That is a $750.00 van anywhere in else in the country ..........

Isn't your lunch-pail being built in FL ?????
For $4500.00.....You can buy 1 ton extended van's on enery corner in FL....(05 & up)
Not a 97 "DINOSAUR" sled... "Are you going finish the look-off with MAGNETIC SIGNS ?"

Why didn't you just buy a van in fl. & Have Les install the lunch-pail.....
Have it lettered or wrapped here (cheaper)...Throw it on a car hauler....
Then walk out your front door...Crank-it- up and be done with it ?

However a man with your financial status...What is $4500.00 anyway? (a LR,DR,& HALL)

PS So who is really the idiot

i can here it rusting from here......shhhh....

WOW... 4500 Eh?

I know every region is different... but I bought a 2001 RamVan with 50k mi, LineX spray on liner inside and had been wraped (removed when I bought it) so the paint was factory fresh.

And I only paid $1200... and still felt like I overpaid.

They stopped making them for a reason.

As I recall the dodge vans gas tank is near the vans floor. But I'm sure your installers will be professional and edumacated.

Machine out back, reel up against the passenger seat (by bulkhead) and where does the Little Giant go?
dodgefloorplan2.jpg

Not much room beside TNT at the back door as it is wider than I show there. YOU could park tools there.

There is not enough room with the larger TNT that you have to put the reel beside the TNT on the back as your TNT is 4 inches wider than a standard TNT.

I think the better arrangement might be to put the TNT on the side with the LJ beside it and the reel on the passenger side rear with a chemical shelf on the driver side wheel well. Got to scale it out.

Actually install as far as bolt down, the Dodge is far easier that a Ford or Chevy.

The space is pretty clean beneath, not as many heat shields or frame members in the way.

As far as gas hookup? Is that included in the model years when they had that weird bladder thing in the tank?
