Do you consider the SS870 a Vortex replacement?

I almost got one when it was a 59 blower but with the switch to the 410 blower I had too many doubts as to it's ability to perform like my 6008 equipped Vortex does.
I'm sure its a beast for single runs, more than enough suck and heat but I NEED to be able to run two 150 ft runs with out compromise.

To be honest I'm not even sure a 59 will satisfy me.

More than likely my next main rig will have two slide ins in the box. A 48 and a 45 with independent waste tanks.

unless Bob Savage can prove me wrong.

Here's what you need to do:

Contact Les

Have him design it or you and he can build it.

I don't think think there is another TM manufacture that would do that.

It's just metal and parts and with Les designing and building, there would certainly be less parts.

the 870 is a beast of a machine...I put that thing thru the ringer at MF with a Hoss at the other end....spent quite a lot of time going over it..Thats whats going in my truck when the Thermal wave tanks...or when I get my slow ass in gear and find a trailer for a back up unit...I will pull the Thermalwave out and use it as back up and toss the 870 in the truck.......

.But...its not a Vortex....someone is a bit confused with this........

Those that have spent years dual wanding with a 6008 blower will never be happy dual wanding with anything else. IMO

The big Daddy has the 6008 tuthill and is $35,000. What more suck turn up the rpms. they could put a larger blower on it if you want it , just ask. each cylinder has a heat exchanger plus the blower has two i believe for a grand total of 10 heat exchangers . should be a heat and suck monster.

How did Prochem get 805 cfms out of a #5LP? or Was it all marketing hype?

We used our 805 last week running two wands off it and it was just screaming. One guy cleaning tile & grout and another cleaning 90-steps, it kicked butt.

A 5lp at 2850 rpm is using 33 bhp to achieve 840 cfm at 14" hg.

Here's a short video showing dual wands using a single #45 blower. You'll notice the one wand is laying open on it's side when we hear the other wand's velocity.

This video demonstrates 2 separate 2" vacuum hose runs — one run at 135', the other run at 125', for a total of 260' of 2" vacuum hose from the truckmount. Note the loud rushing sound of air movement indicating more than enough vacuum to task each wand without having to block off one wand when not in use!

Mike you can dual wand with an EVEREST, the 870, or any similar machine but you will need to do dry strokes.

My next rig will be dual propane with independent tanks and reels.

I'm really sick and tired of heat exchange.

heheh....

pulling my heat exchangers out was THEEE best thing i did to help improve stuff.....

now mind you a few things...

1 they were plugged...soooo no help in heat at all
2 already had a kick butt propane unit...so no additional cost there...

BUTTTT

1 it opened it up to breath...so no exhaust restrictions
2 the heli-coil is more then enough of a bump in temp for "pre heating" the water so it doesnt take for ever to get it up and heating in the winter....
3 plus when i do furniture, it is more then enough heat for those purposes.....we clean theater seats, and dual them...no propane...

i just like it.....and as i have always said...i like having a pre heater for a fuel burner...just a bit of one...

You can run 3-wands off our 805. You can leave the other two hoses open with no restriction and still feel no loss in vacuum from the two hoses not blocked off.

It also screams heat......but you need a box and hose management and storage for 3-steps can be a pain.

Yes, Nate. The video shows two 1.5" wands. I use both those and the 2" wand. We always use 2" vacuum hose right to the wand, whether it is a 1.5", or 2" wand.

The 2" can wear a body out doing 4-5 jobs a day, day-in and day-out, so the 1.5's are sometimes a welcome relief.

The dual 2" wands work even better for dry times and better flushing, but the 1.5's still give great dry times with no customer complaints.

The video demonstrates that you get plenty of airflow to 2 separate wands using the 45 blower when set up for maximum vacuum. The 2" wand will also have virtually the same screaming vacuum as the 1.5".

Our setup by no means has the vacuum of a larger blower truckmount, but the 45 is more than enough to get great dry times dual wanding without needing that larger PD blower setup vacuum.

Pardon me for being a bit contrary, Bob, but Teri Breviks videos alway sound like his lectroweenies give off great vacuum too.

It must not be hard to make a vacuum line sound really loud in a video.

Marty,

I don't know about Terry, but this is dual wands, 260 feet of vacuum hose, and NOT a single wand with a hundred feet of vacuum hose. It is a video, with no audio embellishments.

Has Terry done any dual wand videos?

Must you always be so skeptical brother?

Bob, what TM is in the video, and what is the HP?

I have a Judson with a 4.5 and 28HP.

Thanks, Ross

Ross,

It is a Cleaning Technologies (out of Georgia) 1984 TM, with a Honda 24 HP air cooled engine, Roots 45 blower, and Cat 290 pump, LP heater, with extensive modifications over the years.

Is it over driven by you or CT?

What is the over driven 45 blower compared to these days? Meaning, is it comparable to a 47 or 59 non over driven blower?
