Diner meals should not be much more than $10 each unless you live in a high cost of living area. $1000 will buy about 100 meals or 1 meal per week fro 2 years. I think the van outside would attract more attention than the table top.

OK, that makes more sense than the guy with the sandwich board and the bell.....
