How do you process customers that are out of town and want to pay with a credit card?

At the moment I do not take credit cards, but I am getting more calls from out of town customers

that have rental property here.

Your bank should have an app for your phone. My bank Chase, gave me something to attach to the phone to swipe but like you, my Customers are out of town so I just input the information into the app. It emails them their receipt.

Is their English grammar off a little?

Do they need 10+ area rugs cleaned?

Will they pay extra if you promise them to reimburse them difference via Western Union?

I agree with the others, square works great. Over six years and never had an issue.


They also have "other" services like website scheduling, invoices, etc. They (SQ) are really building suite of business services to help with everything.

We use Square also but be aware that payments over the phone cost more to process. I can't remember exactly, the difference.

It's sizable on a large residential job.

I try to walk with a check because I don't like paying $10-$15 for a cc process fee.

We just switched to Costco one.. We Manually enter the CC number for the cheaper rate.. We had a $90k payment to process and I don't care how you slice it, paying 3% on that isn't something to swallow... Manually entered in its 1.69% I believe... More of a PITA but large tickets makes it hurt less...

We get about 2-4 cash payments per month and about 4-6 cheques, all other payments are by direct credit to our bank. Cost for a direct credit is about 10 cents. We don't accept credit cards and just issue invoices. Bad debts are minimal.

We were correcting a problem for a Manufacture where there wasn't enough protection applied to the carpet causing solution dyed nylon to stain and making it hard for the in-house staff to remove.. Basically moving the furniture, pre-spray, crb, clean, reapply carpet protection.. All done with a portable

We may have another location where it's 4x larger than this previous one. I'm sure we'll get it, but we haven't done any work for this particular company in-charge so it's hard to commit without knowing when we'll receive payment.. We may have to do a retainer like Attorney's do.. The protection alone is about $20k for us to buy it, so it takes some planning on our part to take on a big project like this..

We use Clover Go, only because it's part of Bank of Americas partners and processes credit cards next day into the bank. Check your bank they usually have good processing systems. Chase has one called Payment Tech that would even process CCs into the bank Saturday's.

We charge $5 processing fees for credit cards. No matter the amount. We also notify the customer of this at time of booking. Encourages cash/check.

I would like to charge extra for credit cards like the old days. Credit card payments are too prevalent now to add a fee.

Nevada is not one of the 10 states that doesn't allow convenience Fees. Since the lawsuit was settled in 2013 w visa/MasterCard retailers can charge fees for processing. I had a company charge me $20 on $400 for landscaping once. It is a convienence. Customers have plenty of time to pull out cash or write a check before the appointment.
