Actually, wool fibres have an overlapping scaly structure, kind of like roof shingles that prevents dry soil becoming attached and making vacuuming easier than synthetic fibres.

That goes against everything the ruggies were teaching back in the day... (Groseclose, Amirkhan, Ruth etc)
It was always an established fact that the "scaly" nature of the fiber holds more soil.

Look it up. The scaly nature of the wool cuticle prevents soil from attaching too deeply. Makes it easier to vacuum.

But you're making the mountain out of a molehill when you can simply mop up dripping water from a hose Or the same with overspray from a machine or a sprayer. Simple as that🤷🏼‍♂️ Don't mean you have a bad tech. Do you always carry that 175 to your van?
Yes, it’s a must for me.

Think this through with the picture in mind.

How and why would it be easier to get soil off a strand of material that has scales as opposed to a plastic (synthetic) strand that is completely smooth.

I have dusted and pit washed thousands of rugs over 27 years....and I know it is not easier to get soil off protein fibers than synthetic fibers.

I have a friend who went 100% VLM. I bought his truck mount. There are many times he tells me he wishes he had it back. Yes, VLM works but it can take much longer and can be more physically demanding at times depending on your equipment. I do a lot of VLM but mainly on commercial. I started over 40 years ago doing VLM. I am no stranger to it. It has its place, as does hwe. Ironically, we see many VLM only guys refusing to take on certain jobs and referring hwe.
Ron,
If I was talking to your friend, I would tell "respectfully" him to switch back to TM cleaning?

Or figure out why VLM isn't working for him 100% of the time?

Cause it should and it does for me .

He may need to change chemicals, machinery or pads, it should not be more physical?

but he needs to figure out the right combination for each situation?

In most cases, it does take longer---- this is true?

But done right it's more thorough...

Kenny,
I forgot to answer your question

I mostly use in homes 13 inch

I carry it across hard surfaces

plus van to house - house to van.

You're NOT using a regular 175! It is a 175, but on the very small side. I see why you're not getting solution on hard floors. Lord that would take a while to clean a house!!!! You can't make it go fast.

VLM is working fine for him but it takes substantially longer when he runs into trashed places where he is thinking, if only I had my truck mount still. He is getting good results and his customers are happy.

Through all the courses I have taken, I have always been told that wool released it's soil easier than synthetic. That's from certified iicrc instructors.

You have one I think?
Hild and clarke 13 inch 175.

If the house has furniture, I can move faster a lot faster, then a 17 inch.

I have 2 driving blocks , one with a red pad" most of the time?"

the other block has microfiber pad "most of time?"

Empty homes and some open commercial 17 inch 175 2 blocks

if the commercial is packed with furniture 2 machines, depending on the size "sq ft"13 inch with red pad to scrub,

then extract with the 17 inch 175 ??

I guess you can use a spray bottle 🤷🏼‍♂️
Kenny,
guess what i use to day? "to slow"
A spray bottle lol

microfiber recliner
arms and headrest were greasy and very dirty
the carpet looked brand new so my solution for that was half dilution
so I beefed up a 32 ounce spray bottle
always good to have choices

Nothing wrong with the spray bottle on the recliner. I use a little battery sprayer and a hand buffer for chairs all the time doing that.

Iv'e used VLM for many years on furniture but use my portable to rinse the soil from the fabric. Not all fabric chairs can clean without a extraction rinse. the extra step makes a major difference

We're talking church chairs Jack where it's just the seats, nothing else. Line up 200-250 and go to town.
Asking for a friend
I am often puzzled at how often church chairs need cleaning in Donald-land. Is it any particular religion that requires such a service or are they all a bit get down and dirty?
Seems to be our tight arsed communion sipping Preso's only need an extraction clean every 20 years or so, and the Angles, Metho's & RC's who spend a lot of time on their knees even less.

That's how I know dry volatile solvent is the ticket for candle wax removal as well. Scrape the top the wax off, then with the solvent on a towel and encap what don't evaporate. It's a MIRACLE😂
