What do you do in this situation?

Situation:

You have a basement with a Cat 1, Class 3 flood with a fully enclosed area under the steps. Your testing found that there is water present in the boxed area, but there is also evidence of a prior flood and you have found some mold.

The question is... how do you approach the enclosed area with mold present? Who would put it under negative pressure?

Who would open it up?

Aside from documentation and informing all interested parties and everything else, I am just asking how you dry the area.

We always open this up. Cut a hold about size of the fan opening and look inside. First for the mold. Second see if the builder used this area for his trash dump.

Al hit the nail on the head. I would guess that you are more likely to find that this area was used for a trash dump than you are to find mold. Open it up and look in it. A hole just big enough for a snout type fan would be great. If it is filled with trash or mold a bigger hole would be necessary, if not put your fan up to the hole and let it dry.
