Theres a payday/quick loan chain here in the PNW called Check Mate... not because they are your "mate" that cashes your checks but because when go from living paycheck to paycheck, to living paycheck loan to paycheck loan and eating 29% they have you in "Checkmate" Their sign is even a chessboard.
