Stairs-Who sells the wands cut down to clean steps? Do they sell them with Greenglide too?

I cleaned my home over the weekend and it cleaned much better using the wand on the tread and the stair tool on the riser. I have wide stairs and large landing, so it was easier to use the wands than most stairs but I'd like to try the short cut down version and see if it helps the guys.

Everyone. You can access the internet from the bunker and search for stair tools, but I think you really need to get out of the compound more.

Our guys like the cheap wands because they're light, but because they use a thin walled tube they need repair pretty frequently.

LOL

I guess I've been in the comfort of my bunker too long. I thought they were a special order type thing. Who knew??

Light would be easier to handle on the steps.

I use what I think is a HydroForce?? (or PMC tool?) swivel wand, single jet, about 2 foot long, sometimes. Most all stairs I clean with my PC upholstery tool.....it's a little bit more time consuming, but I can get every edge and corner of the steps. And the nose, most of all. Custys seem to like that the small upholstery tool is built for stairs. I know cleaners that are still using a full size wand, and then vacc'ing with a plastic 2" vac tool.

for stairs try this, prespray tops and fronts. next with a floor wand hold the trigger keyed as you pull back across the tread keep the spray going as you pull off the tread to make another stroke on the stair tread. this will spray the risers keep doing this for the whole set. then come back with vac cuff only and run it across with risers by hand. this does 2 things it vacs off the risers and cleans them and it also gets any bits of debris that accumulate in the crotch of the stairs. give it a try its about the fastest way I know of to do a good job on stairs.

I use this older 40" tool.

OE-LHST-EA_1_zps5233087a.jpg

I pre-spray the risers and treads, then go up the stairs, holding the tool in front of me to clean the risers.

When I get to the top, I reverse the tool to the normal holding position and come back down cleaning the treads.

I prefer the straight handle rather than the "S" bend style as I find it easier to control when holding it away from me going up the stairs.

For extremely bad-bull nose, I use the tool at the front, called a "Hugger".

Other times, if the stairs are not really that bad, I will use my Cyclo with extension handle.

Shown here with both handles, although I mainly only use the shorter handle, placed in the position where the long handle is.

I also use this in the same manner as my stair wand, re; going up and coming down the stairs.

Without the handle, it can also agitate the bull-nose effectively.

PS::: I DON'T use any of my upholstery tools on stairs due to possible damage being done to the face which MAY ruin someones upholstery in the future.

Are you talking about a normal stair tool with a 5-10" head - or do you want a 12 or 14" wand with 2" tube, cut down to stair tool?

Take care,
Lisa

Steve you are just spraying the riser with the wand spray and vacuuming with the hose cuff too?

thats exactly what I am describing, just hammer down on the wand trigger and don't let up. its going to put an overspray from the wand on the riser as you pull back and go forward. I do dry stroke the tread but other than that I am on the trigger. then once done I go back and cuff all the risers by hand this pulls our the overspray/prespray and thus cleans the risers. its actually really fast.

We use our wands on the stairs and go with the waterfall approach, working from the top down.

If the area is tight we will break out the upholstery tool. I have also been curious to see how that smaller S bend wand Would work, but fear the guys try it once and don't like it, then it ends up sitting on a shelf in the shop... and money wasted.

My guys love the Prochem Stair tool. It is set up for 2 inch hose. They swear it is faster and better.

Richard,
That's how I do stairs.
1.5" 2 jet wand for treads, then I go back up and use a hand tool for bullnose and riser.

The larger wand head with the 2inch tube and glide cut down.

We have the PC stair tool and it does a good job but the wand head cleans easier and fast because of size and more jets. The length is just an obstacle in most stairwells where the cut down version should work fine. Do you sell them Lisa or have a source?

We used to sell them. A distributor could special order one for you from CMP. I would ask Olson or Cobb to get one ordered.

Take care,
Lisa

Short wands from the Shortwun. Most impressive collection, I think you win the obsessive clean stair award.

Thanks Bryan, the Hugger was bought for upholstery on the round corners, but I found it better for stairs.

The other two are drape/curtain tools.

Doc, surely you've got a number of wands laying around that are no longer used. Play around with a couple of them, have your welder cut out the middle and weld it back together. Try different lengths and styles. This is mine, I'm only 5'7" so this works well for me.DSC00848.jpgstairtool.jpg
