Rug question

I was asked to clean a rug that experienced some water damage and the red dyes bleed on the fringe and the rug. The rug is relatively small (6x4). I need to explore my options. The customer is not too concerned about the bleeding. He said if I couldn't clean it, he would just toss it. What can I do?

My first option would be to try rewetting (water or a solvent)and using a compressor to blow back into the rug or into a towel works.
Be careful with your pressure as it can shred cotton ; I have found using a flat multi jet tip to be the most effective.
