Quartz Countertops

[Living The Dream]

I have been asked to look at cleaning this quartz contertop. It is in a vacation home and the previous guest got ballpoint pen on it in several spots.

My instinct is telling me that I'm going to need something more than neutral cleaner to get the ink out. How aggressive can I get with quartz? Will it dull from high alkalinity and etch from acid?

I've looked in my Multi Surface Guide, but there's nothing on quartz, only granite. I believe granite is more porous, so I don't think the same rules apply.

I know this may sound silly, but try a magic eraser if not already tried. They work wonders on ink and hard surfaces.

That was the first thing we tried. Rubbing alcohol took it right out without any issues.

I was talking about DR Horton.. Any new housing/condo's is always lowest bid wins.. Then the sub's have to pray they get paid upon completion.. It's a double edge sword.. You could make a good living re-stretching carpets a year after the subdivision is finished..

Quartz is just an acrylic polymer with quartzite particles mixed in. acids and alkalines aren't an issue, but heat and some solvents can be, and polishing to remove scratches can be difficult because the plastic is so much softer than the quartzite bits.
