I think the pay is a little low for DC, and the benefits are questionable, but the paid time off is something to be happy about.

If this spreads into our industry and SS and Zeroidiots start showing this behavior, then maybe they'll stop advertising low ball prices and it'll be easy to charge what we're worth.

That's a pretty good deal around here for housekeepers. Most non government employees don't live within the DC lines. A lot live in Maryland, the majority are in Virginia. It's just too damn expensive. If they do live in DC it's usually renting a room from someone or you have 5-6 family members under one roof.

Most of the housekeepers aren't making more than minimum wage if paid hourly and when paid by the job they underbid just to stay employed. Some are fortunate enough that they will, in a way become part of the family and only need to keep up with one or two houses or they become a live in. But generally speaking, housekeeping here is a cutthroat business. These cheap asses don't want to pay a fair price for domestic work and will can your ass at the first rate increase.
