missing fuel filter

All you chevy owners please tell me if you ever changed your fuel filter for the chevy engine.
I have a 04 van 2500, when I ordered it the factory installed the fuel line for the truckmount, but they forgot to install a fuel filter, just wondered if you ever heard of this. thank you jz

Just had my 04 3500 with the 6 litre in on Friday for the 60000 mile check. They said the filter is inside the fuel tank and is part of the the fuel pump assembly. It is not a serviceable item.

The local dealer where I purchased,it service person told me that the fuel filter was mounted on the inside of the frame at the front of the fuel tank ? jz

the one IN the tank is called a strainer...
the one mounted on the frame IS the filter!
