I had a customer drop off her Louis Vuitton handbag when she picked up her leather jacket.

Her cat had pee'd in the hand bag. (What a nasty mental picture).

So she must have emptied a bottle of Nil Odor into it.

Now the interior lining is very sticky.

What can you suggest to rectify this problem.

Thanks,

Roger, Harry, leather people, ? ? ?

I have been taking a closer look at this handbag which I now believe to be a fake Louis Vuitton.

Louis Vuitton's web site say's that the bags are constructed of cowhide with a canvas lining.

Having found identical markings on the exterior along with a web like backing, I believe this to be vinyl.

Inside the bag where it should be canvas, it is a fawn color with little raised bumps.

Lifting the flap below the stitching, and rubbing with my finger, this color literally disintegrated into a congealed substance, not unlike paint.

It also appears to be coming away from the surface material, showing a typical fabric weave underneath.

Poor adhesion problems, possibly exacerbated by the nilodor.?

I don't think this lady is going to be very happy.

What think you. :?:

These above pictures show a LV bag in the “leather-safe” cleaning process.

Only the trims are genuine leather known as “vachetta”.

These are vegetable tanned leathers which are pH sensitive and require lots of “fatliquor5.0” too!

As to your sticky problem - acidifier2.0 a pH 2.0 alkaline neutralizer may help!

Cat odor standard decontamination process is as follows:

1) Surface Soiling Removal
Soak-up as much liquid as possible with dry absorbent disposal towel.
Use leatherTool6™, leatherBrush1™ and leatherEraser4™ or nubuckEraser5™ to remove dried soiling with help of air gun or vacuum cleaner.

2) Remove the Protein Component of the Contamination.
Use - d’Protein11.0™ as per instruction.

3) Deodorize the Unpleasant Odor.
Use - d’Odor4.5 as per instruction.

4) Neutralize the Ammonia and the Alkaline Phosphorus Salt from “reverse tanning” the leather.
Use - d’Urine2.2™ as per instruction.

5) General Cleaning.
Use - clean3.8™ as per instruction.

6) Acidifier Rinsing.
Use - rinse3.0™ as per instruction.

7) Inspection for Alkaline Exposure - check for tackiness, stickiness or sliminess when wet.
Use - acidifier2.0™ as per instruction to a squeaky healthy feel.

8] Anti-Microbial to Control Odor-causing Bacteria Activities.
Use - d’Bacteria3.7™ as per instruction.

9) Inspection after Drying.
Odor Inspection
Visual Inspection
Suppleness Inspection

10) Odor Inspection.
Repeat the above processes as necessary.

11) Visual Inspection on Light Pastel Colored Leathers - check for Urochrome Yellowing Effect.
Use - d’Tarnish1.3™ as per instruction.
Use - d’Yellow6.7™ as per instruction.

12) Suppleness Inspection - as leather is wet and dry again it has the tendency for the fibrils to stick together as the fatliquor diminishes.
Use - hydrator3.3™ to hydrate the stick together fibers to separate and relax them prior to fatliquoring.
Use - fatliquor5.0™ to replenish the diminished fatliquor to soften and strengthen the leather structure when dry.
Use - rinse3.0™ to strengthen the hydrogen bond between the cationic (+ve) protein fibers and the anionic (-ve) fatliquor molecules.

13) Visual Inspection.
Decide whether the leather finishes need restoration either to its color or its topcoat or both.

14) Leather sensuous non-stick tactile-feel (buttery, draggy, silky or waxy) conditioning with a classic leather scent to mask the unpleasant odors.
leatherScent’B™ (buttery) - use for all pigmented and aniline leathers.
leatherScent’D™ (draggy) - use for Vachetta, Wax pull-up, Bicast and Leather Flooring.
leatherScent’S™ (silky) - use for standard nubuck.
leatherScent’W™ (waxy) - use for split suede.

What do you think?
