I’m certain plumbers and HVAC companies get flooded with marketing from us

So what’s the best way to reach them without being another “one of those guys”?

I’m hesitant to do cold calling because like us, they’re in the middle of the job and don’t want to talk.

Stop by the office and chat. We have a large plumbing company here that realized how much they could make in restoration rather than subbing it out and are now one of the largest restoration companies here. Smaller plumbing companies don't have that luxury. It's worthwhile to contact a few. They are usually the first people called

Some plumbing franchises (Rotorooter, for example) have gotten in to water damage restoration, but smaller, independent guys would probably like to team up with you.

With most of them, it isn't about any commissions you might pay, but them being able to be of better service to their customers, and for them to be able to focus on what they do best.

A pretty smart salesman once told me:

"People pay to make problems go away"

Help these people see that you can help their customers, and help them have one less annoyance, and its a good start.

Kickbacks have always been a staple in my area.. You're talking anywhere from $250/per job to 10% of the bill..

I have always chosen to not partake in those shenanigans.. I have 3 plumber friends who all worked for different companies, and they'd say how many times WDR guys would offer them $250 then when it came time to pay up, they would give a gift card.. Talk is cheap..

Hell one guy in particular will give property managers and spouses all expense paid trips to Vegas.. LMK if you could/would compete with that......... :eekk:

I'd take JP's advice and say you can help make problems go away..........If you are qualified to do so..

Send a letter with an introduction and invitation to meet. Have it be written and signed by a female representative with the company.

Don't just show up. Nobody likes that.

Personally, I'll NEVER EVER get involved with a referral program again.

I have attached a document that pulled very well for me. Besides the cost of a stanp and envelope, its about as cheap as you can get.
