So I get the junk mail today and and the big full page ad with with the 2 rooms $49.00 guy and 50% off 3m scotchgard crap with a nice IICRC logo on it . Like they use 3m, bought one bottle and refill it with cheap crap.

So why should one pay the $$$ to be certified or a certified firm when the the customer can get the iicrc certified for $49.00. The customer does not know what should be done in a real IICRC cleaning and now they think it includes no vac, no prespray and in and out the door faster than a NASCAR pit stop.

I have invested a lot of money into the iicrc and this just makes me feel like all the fees were a watse of money.

Do you expect them to police 30,000 carpet cleaners? Your competition is free to price however they see fit. It's on you to create a sufficient perception of value for your clients so that they are willing to pay your prices. I'm a "master textile cleaner" - woo hoo! The classes and relationships are valuable, but not in a marketing sense. If you thought that the IICRC was going to make the difference between your success and failure in the biz, then you truly did waste your money.

I bet if you check the certified firms they will not be listed. The printer doesn't know they are not supposed to use the Logo if they are not a certified firm. Don't hold it against the IICRC because someone is using the logo without permission.

In my experiences, many of the companies who use the IICRC logo, are not Certified Firms. If the company in question is not a CF, then report them to the IICRC and let their lawyers take care of it. If on the other hand if they are a CF, and just a budget priced company... there is not much you can do.
Keep your personal certifications even if you decide not to renew your CF status, as you can still use your qualifications to help set you apart from your competition IMHO.

I have 2 companies that are certified firms and do the whole house 99.00 special.

I just think it's misleading that someone goes to the iicrc web site to pick a professional cleaner and gets the hack special at there door. I guess they should have a disclaimer on the the site. The "you get what you pay for rule" applies to the cleaners listed.

What Thomas said! I just sent in my app for CF and one of the requirements of CF is to monitor the usage of IICRC LOGO. Don’t worry about the low ballers to much, Instead focus on conveying a superior value to your customers.

offer a 25% discount if your customer can tell you what IICRC stands for. if not, charge them an extra 25% for getting an educated honest business to do their cleaning!!!

So I get a call from my prop mgt account today. Someone hired a cc to clean before they moved. The problem, they didn't clean the stairs or treat the pet odor. The stairs are not included in the deep clean whloe house special. Guess who did the job, the iicrc certified guy I just got the fliers from. May be I should call and thank him for his half cleaning job. He left all the real money for me.
