having a sprinter for two years now . it is the best van out there for our type of work in my mind. i can go from a reg carpet job to a flood then to a trauma job without going back to get more equipment, the cab is made with the driver in mind not like a ford or chevy which just have a place for you to sit... it,s great on diesel even with a full load, down time for repairs so far is none .
i hate getting back into my ford which is the same year 07 it,s like going from a mercedes to a yugo...well i guess it is

No crap. Thats a deal breaker.

I have a similar reel to that one. It has a foot pedal on the floor that activates the drive on the reel. Which means you are standing in the van holding the hose with both hands guiding it in place. It's amazing.

On topic. I've had Chevys, Fords and even a Nissan UD cab over and I prefer it over all three. Better handling, better storage, better fuel economy. What it cost you extra in price you can make up in longevity, and fuel economy (and chiropractor bills from not having to bend over as you get stuff out of the van)

I don't think you can fit all that in a standard van and stand up straight too.

If you run 2.5 you can dual wand all day. With 2 inch, you are right - at least not to my standards.

We dualed 2 houses yesterday. No problem.

I guess the hose reel position wouldn't be too bad with a foot pedal and electric reel.
You could still do the same thing with the reel closer to the floor and door right?

What is the main reason for puting it where you put it?
Out of the way? Storage underneath? What else?

It doesn't have to look pretty to get the job done.

Not enough room on the side door with a DXT.

And I swear to you that you would not miss it being close to the back when you can stand up in side the van. It just isn't an issue. I promise.

I used it for 3 months without a reel motor (it was back ordered). And it wasn't any more difficult than a standard set up.
