WINTER IS COMING :!:  :!:

Get your ducks lined up in a nice neat row now. The sun is still shining: Make the best of it. :!:

A few suggestions:
 Buy Uniform Jackets
 Commercial work
 Savings account
 Shelves stocked
 Post cards to the customer base before the frost sets in.
 Encourage the employee(s) you don't really like or need to move on. Save his salary for heating the shop this winter.

Any other suggestions?

Have a marketing/referral program in place now.

Optimize your web pages to get one or two on Google.

Make relationships with other service/home businesses for cross marketing and joint ventures.

If you know how to run your business
you would already have this in place not just winter but the
rest of the year!

 Somebody spent $1k with Howard Partridge... At least he got the complimentary snooty attitude along with his 11 manuals that need to be spell checked. You know... it's assholes like you that make guys like me post less. Not because I'm thin skinned, just because why the hell would I want to offer advice/help to a cocky know it all like you. GFY.

BTW you are right... But do you have to be a dick about it?

It is for veterans too, cause it's all in the details. If you can master a few million details you can own the Universe. After 30 years......I'm still trying

I didn't watch what I was doing a few years ago and it was a hurting time. Lesson(s) learned , I don't just stow for winter, but make sure there's enough acorns in case I get hurt too. I had a few weeks off this spring with full open hernia surgery and I breezed through it money wise. I don't live beyond my earning power and keep debt to a minimum. The best advice.....

GREAT POST!

Lets see.............................

1 Work hard all summer and Fall
2 Don't waste alot of money
3 Save money for winter- I'm shooting for 20 grand this year.
4 Stop personal spending through the winter.
5 Stock up on chemicals and parts in the fall.
6 Limit advertising costs in winter- I don't advertise or market at all.
7 Don't pay others to do what you can do yourself.

budget for the year not just nine months you shouldn't have to skip personal spending in the winter. That is when you should be enjoying because you have a lighter schedule

Greg, what type of solution hose insulation do you use ? I can't seem to find a product that would work well, something very thin and flexible that would help retain a little heat at least.

That's along my winter plans. I have to figure where I want to go between Christmas and New Years. I'm thinking Belize? Or maybe Guerro Negro Mexico.

I have a 25ft piece that is molded foam and wrapped in duck tape. It gets cold on the water here. I carry 75 ft in the cab and I heat the box but when I lay it to the door I have 25ft covered from the cold wind.

I disagree about the no marketing in winter.

I would tend to have less marketing when you are too busy in the summer.

Marketing should happen all year.

It doesn't have to cost much to form relationships.

In fact during winter when you have more time is likely the best time to market of form relationships.
