I've had a few minor hoses and leaks to fix on my Everest, but one thing that has me puzzled is the the heat exchanger. There's a lot of air flow coming out one of the hose ports where an old rubber grommet was on the right hand side of the machine. I'm assuming it's exhaust that's used to heat the water? My question is if this is normal and if I can use some high temp RV silicone to seal it up? 20230324_155202.jpg20230324_155151.jpg

I assume that a certain amount is to be expected with a failed grommet

but a lot of flow might be indicative of increased back pressure from dirty coils

If it has been a while I would probably take this as an opportunity to clean the exchangers and replace the grommets rather than gooping it

I don't think High Heat silicone would help. I think the back pressure would blow it right out. You need to replace that gromit with one that has a lip that can grab. They sell them at Ace Hardware. Try that first and also what Fred said.

Sorry for the late reply. For a quick fix, go pick up some high temp goop stuff and see what it'll do. The worst that can happen is it'll just blow it right back out

But since you don't know the history of the heat exchanger, it really needs to be cleaned. I can't remember if you did that before you installed it in your van. ??

Thanks everyone for your help. I did not pull the heat exchanger before installing it, because I wanted to make sure it ran good and would be worth putting the time and effort in. I'll make a plan to get it pulled out, cleaned and all the grommets replaced.

It really sucks not having a mechanic nearby. Most of this stuff I can figure out and do myself, but it takes so much time, that I'd rather pay someone to do it.

Have you pulled them and washed them, they can get gunked up.

But if your getting good vacuum and heat I wouldn't worry.
