Double check that rubber buddy. If it has a was impregnated wax top layer, it may not need a sealer and futhermore it may damage the floor. Check specs and manufactures recommends.

Dave you are 100% correct on that. We went in for the first time to clean it on Friday and the floor looked almost black in the center. After machine scrubbing this thing for a couple hours we found out the last cleaner had used stripper and was putting sealer down. The color is very un-even now and I want to apply a sealer that will work with the soft floor but hold up to the use. At this point I think a coat or 2 of sealer will make the floor look more even and I am betting their stripper messed up the floor to start with and thats why they were putting VCT sealer on it.

Roundel® • CityScape™ • Inertia™ • Circulinity™ Rubber Floor Tiles
Maintenance Instructions
Introduction ___________________________________________________________________
Johnsonite rubber flooring is made with 100% Johnsonite rubber. Johnsonite rubber flooring includes properties that
help release soil, grit and other contaminants and help maintain Johnsonite sheen over years of service.
A proper and regular maintenance program is important to preserve the flooring.
To support our customers’ maintenance program, Johnsonite recommends the use of Taski or Johnson Wax
Professional cleaning products. For specific maintenance advice, please contact Taski at 1-800-827-5487 (USA and
Canada calls) or Johnson Wax Professional at 1-800-558-2332.
Post Installation Initial Cleaning __________________________________________________
The initial cleaning of rubber flooring products is especially important. First, job site conditions usually cause grit and
dirt to accumulate. Second, the desired sheen level will need to be selected.
Note: To protect Flagstone Rubber Floor Tiles during the installation process, Johnsonite has applied a coat of Taski
Undercover at the factory. Taski Undercover is an acrylic sealer which minimizes soil and dirt entrapment into the
surface of the product.
Caution: For Inertia UnderLock tiles follow the UnderLock Maintenance instructions.
Initial cleaning should not be performed until seventy-two (72) hours after installation.
CLEANING
1. Thoroughly sweep or vacuum the entire area of the flooring products to remove all loose dirt and grit.
2. Prepare a cleaning solution of mixing 1-2 oz. of a neutral detergent (pH of 7-8) or Taski’s “Profi” or Johnson Wax
Professional’s “Stride Neutral” per gallon of warm water. The dilution selected depends on light to heavy soil
conditions.
3. Apply the cleaning solution with a nylon or rayon mop, and let stand for 5-15 minutes IMPORTANT: Do not let
the solution dry.
4. Scrub the rubber flooring products:
• Small area installations: use a deck brush.
• Large area installations: use a 22 gauge nylon bristle brush on a scrubbing machine (Single Disc Machine
150-300 RPM).
5. Wet vacuum, or mop up, the cleaning solution.
6. Rinse with clean cold water, and then remove all water by vacuum or mop.
7. Allow the flooring to dry thoroughly (Approximately one hour, depending on temperature and humidity).

Selecting the Desired Level of Sheen _______________________________________________
1. Customers who prefer no buffing or desire a higher sheen should apply Taski’s “Brilliant or Vision Matte” or
Johnson Wax Professional’s “Showplace or Carefree” flooring finish. Apply two coats. Allow the first coat of floor
finish to dry prior to applying the second coat.
• IMPORTANT: Flagstone and Smooth surface rubber tiles should always be finished in this manner.
• Fan Drying Caution: If foaming of the floor finish should occur during application, allow to Air dry 10-15
minutes or until bubbles have disappeared prior to fan drying surface.
2. Customers who prefer to buff the flooring should apply Taski’s WiWax or Johnson Wax Professional’s Revive
mixed 2-4 oz. per gallon of water. Let dry thoroughly before allowing traffic. This will help protect and develop the
floor during early use and allow time for the self releasing waxes to migrate to the surface.
• IMPORTANT: Do not buff flooring products for the first 90 days following installation. Buffing may dull
the surface of newly installed rubber flooring products.
• Note: Maintaining the rubber floor tile by dry buffing only, requires higher frequency maintenance to
maintain the desired finish.
Regular Maintenance __________________________________________________________
Grit and dirt are the enemies of attractive, long-lived, rubber flooring products. It is very important to clean rubber
flooring at a frequency consistent with the amount and type of traffic. Daily cleaning is recommended. This permits
the customers selection of sheen to be easily maintained.
CLEANING
1. Sweep or vacuum the floor.
2. “Spot” clean, if necessary, with a neutral cleaning detergent diluted 1-2 oz. per gallon of warm water.
3. Should the entire floor require a deeper overall cleaning, clean as follows:
a. Prepare a cleaning solution of mixing 1-2 oz. of a neutral detergent (pH of 7-8) or Taski’s “Profi” or Johnson
Wax Professional’s “Stride Neutral” per gallon of warm water.
b. Apply the cleaning solution with a nylon or rayon mop, and let stand for 5 minutes.
• IMPORTANT: Do not let the solution dry.
c. Scrub the rubber flooring products:
• Small area installations: Use a large deck brush
• Large area installations: Use a 22 gauge nylon brush on a machine (Single disc machine 150-300 RPM).
d. Wet vacuum, or mop up, the cleaning solution.
e. Rinse the floor with clean cold water, and then remove all water by vacuum or mop.
f. Allow the flooring to dry thoroughly (Approximately one hour, depending on temperature and humidity).

Maintaining the Previously Selected Level of Sheen _________________________________
1. Customers who selected no buffing, or a higher sheen, should apply Taski’s “Brilliant or Vision Matte” or
Johnson Wax Professional’s “Showplace or Carefree” floor finish as desired. A higher sheen may be achieved by
dry buffing.
2. Customers who prefer to buff the floor should apply Taski’s “WiWax” or Johnson Wax Professional’s “Revive”
for the first 90 days. While use is dictated by traffic conditions, an application every week or two weeks is
suggested. Use 2 oz. of WiWax or Revive per gallon of water.
After 90 days, begin to dry buff after cleaning
• Small area installations: use a bath towel wrapped around a push broom.
• Large area installations: use a union fiber bristle brush (Zimmerman 1500 UN050 union mix bassine
brush) for dry buffing on a polishing machine, single disk machine 150-300 RPM.
Depending on the level of sheen, occasional additional applications of WiWax or Revive may be needed.
As the flooring reaches the sheen desired, WiWax and Revive may be alternated with the cleaner in step 3(a) under
Regular Maintenance Cleaning.
Special Restorative Maintenance _________________________________________________
A proper and regular maintenance program is important to preserve rubber flooring. The frequency of cleaning and
maintenance depends on the amount and type of floor traffic. Excessive or accumulated buildup of soil and grit are
sources of abrasion that if not properly and regularly removed, will dull and shorten the life of the floor and/or may
require a supplementary surface treatment. The floor may also become dull if subjected to (i) over scrubbing; (ii)
solvent or acid spill; (iii) excessive concentration of cleaning solution; (iv) buffing by plastic pads, or an improper
brush, or buffing at excessive RPM speeds (over 350 RPM).
To restore the floor for customers who prefer not to buff:
1. Prepare a solution of Taski “Linostrip” or Johnson Wax Professional “Linosafe” diluted per the manufacturer’s
recommendations.
2. Liberally apply the solution with a nylon or rayon mop to a small workable (300 sq. ft.) area. Allow solution to
stand for 5-10 minutes and then agitate with mop as required and to ensure even distribution of the solution.
3. Scrub the rubber flooring products:
• Small area installations: Use a large deck brush
• Large area installations: Use a 22 gauge nylon brush on a machine (Single disc machine 150-300 RPM)
4. Wet vacuum, or mop up, the cleaning solution.
5. Rinse the floor with clean cold water, and then remove all water by vacuum or mop.
6. Next, apply two (2) coats of Taski’s “Brilliant or Vision Matte” or Johnson Wax Professional’s “Showplace or
Carefree” floor finish. Allow the first coat of floor finish to dry prior to applying the second coat.
Revision 11 - Released June, 2007 RT MAINT 110607
a. Note: For Flagstone tiles, apply one (1) coat of Taski “Undercover” Acrylic Sealer prior to applying the acrylic
floor finish.
b. Fan Drying Caution: If foaming of the floor finish should occur during application, allow to air dry 10-15
minutes or until bubbles have disappeared prior to fan drying surface.
To restore flooring for the customer who prefers to buff:
1. Sweep the area clean.
2. Apply WiWax or Revive, diluted 2-4 oz. per gallon of water, by mopping the solution on the flooring. Let stand
for five (5) minutes.
3. Remove the solution with wrung out mop.
4. Dry buff:
• Small areas: Use a bath towel wrapped around a push broom.
• Large areas: Use a union fiber bristle brush (Zimmerman 1500 UN050 union mix bassine brush) for dry buffing
on a polishing machine (Single disc machine 150-300 RPM).
5. Repeat this procedure each time the flooring needs to be cleaned until full luster is restored.
6. Regular maintenance with Taski’s “WiWax” or Johnson Wax Professional’s “Revive” will eventually require its
removal as buildup occurs slowly over time.

Special Maintenance Cautions ___________________________________________________
1. Removing Gum: Apply ice on the affected area; carefully remove the frozen gum with a non-metal spatula. Mineral
spirits can be used to remove any remaining residue. Hand buff the spot with a soft towel.
2. Do not use scrubbing or buffing pads, steel wool, strong solvents (Lestoil, Top Job, etc. and similar products),
gasoline, turpentine, and acetone.
3. Do not use mechanical polishers that exceed 350 RPM.
