I said the pity party is over but truth is it comes and goes. This is extremely draining. I "may" have considered driving my van off the bridge a time or two. ;)

Looks like about 3 months before I will be able to get a contractor started and then at least 6-8 months to complete.

In the meantime I'm going to do what I can do myself while juggling working on the business to make money for food.

Made a pretty good dent on some demo. Doing the demo and mold mitigation myself should save me some decent coin.

Son of a bitch. No sooner than I made that last post my phone rang from the auto insurance adjuster letting me know they are probably going to total my car. Just bought the damn thing 3 months ago and traded in our old car. I have gap insurance so it'll pay it off but I'm still left without a vehicle.

What are your wife and kids doing through all this?

The kids are mostly staying with us in the camper but every few days I send them to my friends house outside town to stay the night. He has a 9 year old girl as well.

My 15 year old has been a pretty big help with some of the demo. He also went and helped my dad put on his roof.

My wife is absolutely miserable. I honestly don't know how she's going to get by the next year. She has been packing up and trying to clean up/salvage as much of our stuff as she can. It's pretty mentally draining on her.

any major loss has its ups and downs in emotions, but constructively working through it at a steady sustainable pace is better than being swallowed by helplessness and doing nothing

I was up in Panama City last week. The place is still a disaster everywhere you look. I was driving through town thinking about Joey wondering if anyone had an update. It’s crazy. It’ll be years before the town resembles anything close to recovered. The tree cover is almost non existent. Maybe 1 out of 5 or 6 trees survived.
