Quick Books will give you the numbers, but you have to do the calculations.

I do have a spreadsheet that guides you to translate your expense figures into your daily cost of doing busienss, cost per sq. ft. of carpet cleaned and such. Let's you know the minimum price you can charge to be profitable.

It is also nice for some "What if" scenarios. For example, "If I spend $x on a new tool or piece of equipment how many days or how many more sq. ft of carpet will I need to clean to pay for it?"

If anyone wants a free copy, send an email to slewis@interlinksupply.com and ask for the cost of doing business spreadsheet.

I use past years numbers as a baseline, I use a daily break even number for fixed costs then add in the variables based on the specifics of the job. I usually only do it on large commercial stuff
