Book keeper ...

How do you guys do book keeping. I am sure I will figure it out eventually, but Quickbooks has a hell of a terrible learning curve and I need to get my books fixed.

Right now there seems like only two options ... outsource the task or sit at this computer until I punch a hole in the ******* screen from frustration.

Thoughts?

I use a professional bookkeeper who use QuickBooks online. She has set up all of my accounts, does my taxes, etc for about $2500 per year.

How big is your operation?

I am a one man operation and don’t have the budget for that kind of output quite yet, though I hope to be there soon enough.

I am also a one man operation. Good bookkeeping is cheap in the long run.

After you know what you’re doing I imagine it is. If you don’t even know how to navigate the site to find what your looking for it is pretty challenging.

you dont need to use all the features, basically just
enter bills,
pay bills,
create invoices,
invoices paid,
deposits

I dont use quickbooks for customer invoices. I just enter Carpet Cleaning and the job total.

dont make it too complicated to get started.

It’s the reconciling the deposits and invoices that has me blown out right now, but good point.

‘there are quite a few tutorials on YouTube that might be helpful if you can learn that way

if not, go on a local FB page and see if there is someone that can come to your office for a fee and walk you through the things you are having difficulty with

perhaps hire them to come in occasionally to get caught up

bookkeeping is tedious…. I have my daughter data entry what she can and then I reconcile the remainder
