Is it possible that if I installed a bigger pump..by bigger I mean more GPM and more pressure, that the regulator would also have to be bigger? Not so much to handle the pressure but the flow?

Not so much, "bigger" in size, but with internal parts that are more durable. As you suspect, more flow in the pump will mean more flow when the regulator is bypassing... which will mean more friction and therefore more wear on the regulator seat and seals.

Thanks for the Info Duane....there is definitely alot more physics and engineering involved when you get down to it.

Thats why you must consult your machines maker and not take the advice of BB engineer wannabees.
