ARCS announces annual plant tour & conference

The annual meeting of the Association of Rug Care Specialists will take place in Durham, North Carolina from May 2-4, 2013. "Business Trends and Bends in the Road Ahead" will spotlight both business and technical issues for owners and managers of rug cleaning plants.

The meeting program will provide owners and managers with strategic tools for promoting their businesses and improving customer relations, as well as functional information for use in their cleaning plants.

Highlights include

A tour of Karastan's North Carolina mill. An American rug institution, Karastan has been making some of the finest machine made rugs in the world since the 1920's. We will get a guided tour of the facility that has made so many of the rugs we see in our shops.

Doug Lay will speak to us on customer buying preferences, with slides and a presentation on older and reproduction rugs. Mr. Lay, well known in the oriental rug industry, offers both his own wholesale lines as well as his family's regional retail operation, The Persian Carpet, Inc. in Durham, North Carolina. The Persian Carpet will also host a reception at their facilities on the evening of May 2, 2013.

Chris Reimer, vice-president of social media at the Falk Harrison design agency, will speak about utilizing social media to attract and retain clients. Mr. Reimer, an award winning social media strategist, brings his unique background and real world experience managing brand, reputation and leads using social media, to give insight into what works and what doesn't. A must see presentation for anyone looking to expand into the rapidly growing and influential world of social media.

Anise Starnes, regional development director for Constant Contact Inc. will give a presentation on improving e-mail marketing. Ms. Starnes has twenty years experience in supporting small businesses with customer communications and every business manager will profit from her presentation.

Justin Woodard, third generation owner of Woodard Cleaning and Restoration in St. Louis, MO will present "Improving Dry Room Efficiency". Regardless of the size of your drying room or the method you use to dry rugs, this presentation will help you dry them faster and with less energy.

A major carpet mill representative will speak to attendees about the mill's vision of changes, adjustments and trends they see coming in the future.

There will be a series of guided roundtable discussions where members can bring their issues and we can learn from each others experiences what has really worked and what really hasn't.

The ARCS annual meeting and election of officers.
