Archie, a 32 year-old resident of Atlanta, is leaving his dreaded job as department lead at Home Depot. He's been scraping and saving for three years and has put away $25,000.00. Archie wants to invest this money in his very own cleaning business.

Archie has:

-2 children
-Working wife
-Mortgage
-Mid-range credit

What would a long time cleaning veteran advise him to do?

For $2,000.00 a month I would be willing to consult with him every month for and hour...naw, make that 55-minutes each month.

I will tell him who his clients are, how to get them by separating himself and with his remaining $1,000.00 which 175 to buy & what chems.

I'd tell him to believe half of what he reads here, and to COMPLETELY stay away from Robbieland.

How much does the wife make and will she stand by and let Robbie sit on his ass all day trying to learn how to SEO himself up some customers?

Will she demand that he go out and knock on doors?

He better save at least half that money for door hangers so hopfully Robbie has a strong back to be lifting his used Ninja 150..

I started with 32,000$ and blew it within 3 months paying for everything. Lucky I had a full time job and a business partner that could do cleaning full time while I marketed. Otherwise bankrupt city.

Damon, I would advise him to do several specific things:
1. Begin a debt stacking program to pay debts and free up budget money. Lots of tools at www.feedthepig.org
2. Spend a TON of time at the University of YouTube, figuring out what is being done and reflecting on what he could do to make an extra income in cleaning.
3. Lurk on all the cleaning forums and read at least 1000 postings. Maybe 5000.
4. Determine an underserved niche and begin slowly.

Number one is most important.

Go to SFS and then think about it. If it is not for him then it is very little money wasted. At least he will know what he is getting in to and they won't sugar coat it for you to sell you a TM. If he decides to go for it then he has some support and many forms. I wish I would have. It would of saved me thousands.

I'd tell him to go work for stanley for six months. See how they run their business, he needs to learn: booking, phone selling, systems for setting appts, how to be organized, marketing, etc....

He would get a better cleaning education being a helper/tech in a smaller biz, but he needs to learn everything. Actual cleaning is the easy part.

I would tell him to watch the recent tom king video.

Does this make sense? can you see yourself doing this everyday?
Commercial/Referral/Online

Otherwise you will be begging for work with 3 room for $59 print/online coupons.
Then going on forums complaining endlessly about pricing ....
