Does anyone here operate a VLM only, commercial only carpet cleaning business?

I picked up a Cimex a year ago and find myself using it more and more. I’m to the point where when I do use the truck mount, I’m thinking wtf am I doing here?

I’m looking for the experiences and advice of others who have already been there and done that. I’ve been cleaning carpet, tile and grout, and doing vct for myself full time since 2012 and have two truck mounts, propane strippers, Aztec system, scrubbers, portables, you name it. Everything but an OP and CRB. Definitely not a newbie, I’m just looking for some perspective before I start shifting my current business in a different direction or start a second one altogether that is VLM specific.

I think it's a great business model if you have the appropriate amount of commercial carpet in your area. I do tons of condo buildings with just encap, using a Trinity Phoenix. There are many office buildings, hotels, airports, etc, where encap shines. More money per hour and less cost.

I think if you do store front retail a truckmount with a crb would be advantageous. As long as you carry water. With all your crap, you need to add the two things you don’t have to be a real pro😉

There’s a lot more retail here in OKC than the Malls we have. Retail is leaving the malls pretty fast. There’s more commercial than retail too. We’ve got a lot of everything commercial here in the boonies.

I know. I work those hours in those places. But, for the most part a lot of it is after hours.
I think it depends on whether you are in a small, rural market or a large metropolitan market. I have so many choices where I am, I can pick and choose the type of work I do. I don't clean restaurants usually or hotels or most occupied offices with some exceptions. I have an office coming up on July 8 that I will start at 6pm. I will be done by 8 pm with $750 in my pocket. For that kind of money, I don't mind the hours.

I wand my hallways. Genny vacuums them weekly.
My customers are particular. That's why they have me and genny.

Recently found out a long time customer is the daughter of the president of Toyota in Japan. That's what I was told but I presume a past president.
A lot of people don't like her or her husband but I have always got along with her very well. They came to our wedding. She was one of my first long term customers.
