You're braver than me. I've continually found ways to avoid the mind-numbing Adobe juggernaut. I've jumped into Adobe's Creative Suite several times, but I invariably end up dropping them for something more user friendly. But if you've got the chops for it, after you've become an Adobe pro, in the end - I'm sure you'll feel it was worth it. Hang in there.
