van shelf

I'm putting together a new van and would like to know how the plastic shelf holds up vs stainless steel.

It seems something is always knocking in my current SS shelf.

i've had the same 1 from Lowes on my last 2 vans, very lightweight and versatile (w/ use of a hacksaw.) bright blue bungee's wrapped side to side hold everything in the shelves. i've never had the "official" carpet cleaners shelving units...too much $ and no need for me.

Personally, I don't trust them.

They degrade over time, can stretch and then allow the bottles to topple over.

But to each their own and if it works for you, then that's all you need to be concerned with.

I would be putting some ply on both the base and around the perimeter for safety, and also some carpet on top of the base to help absorb any unlikely spills.

I have always made my own from slotted angle iron and plywood for the last thirty years at least.

I make them to suit my vehicle and the products I will be carrying.
