Cleaners, suppliers, gurus and manufacturers all get to play, even Bawb.

For me I love being my own boss, I love the near instant gratification of a job well done, I love the rapport with my customers, I love the freedom biz ownership allows and the life I can live, I love all the neato toys, I love most of the members here, I love Jimmy, I love the money a dummy like myself could not dream of making anywhere else, I love the recession proofness of it all, I love having my son on board and watching him become a good man, I love big blowers and I hate phony ass motivational quote driveling liars.

your turn!

I love my wife and family, the job was never supposed to be what I did full time,

But I do like being an O/O as opposed to a behind the desk middle management guy.

Because like You I'm responsible for the outcome and I really like my customers for the most part.

Its really good money but a lot of work.

I like these boards when its about carpet cleaning, I've got to learn to let You big boys fight it out and keep my mouth shut because really why should I care???

I tend to have a fix it personality, but I'm learning to let go.

I love the people. We are a crazy, dysfunctional, stubborn, independent lot, but we are some of the best people on earth and when push comes to shove, we take care of one another.

I have also always loved the flexibility that working for myself has allowed me as a parent with a family and now with the dog rescue.

Take care,
Lisa

I like the people... You'll never find a group of people more willing to help, motivate and guide you to success. Guys like Fred Boyle that will light a fire under your ass when needed it (tough love) and guys like Richard Chavez that will encourage you to take the risks and invest thier valuable time on the phone with you when you're having trouble working out your next move. People like Bawb and Jimmy that will make you laugh when you're not in the mood to laugh also helped keep me in the game...

I also like the fact that you could see the results as you went along on a job site. Plenty of instant gratification in that regard. In a factory or an office if you run 1000 parts or processs 1000 papers they just have you do 1000 more. In this business you can actually be done at the end of the job and every job is different, even when you're doing it for the 26th time in the same building. I also liked the problem solving aspect of spotting and enjoyed the opportunity to make $200+ and hour without a college degree...

I love being the hero! Coming to the rescue to a homeowner with a flooded home or one filled with sewage.

Offering a premium service with around the clock 24/7, 365 days a year service makes me proud of what we can accomplish. The guys in the field feel it too, they come back bragging about how bad it was and what they did and how it's on it way to drying.

Of course I always wanted to be a hero, I jumped off the roof of my house with a cape when I was a little kid....didn't fly for long but sure twisted my ankle good.

Can you believe my mother whipped me afterwards. I'm hurt and crying and I get whipped for hurting myself. :eekk:

Maybe that's why I hate flying so much??

Freedom, flexible schedule, every day is different.

Carpet cleaners have a huge sense of humor, some are downright wacky {but in a fun way} and most are really down to earth.

We deal mainly with businesses so they are kinda boring, working for homeowners though is a total crap shoot some days. We are walking into customer's weird little world and sometimes at the wrong time, even in my limited experience compared to most of you I still have my fair share of bizzaro world homeowner stories.

Meeting clients, the ability to take time off when I want (I like to think) :) Too much of an independent thinker (maybe rebel) to work for the man.
Being a people pleaser, the best part is making people happy and they give you money in return!

One thing Jimmy touched on in another thread i agree with, the next generation of cleaners online are not going to help people for free like you guys do.

The younger guys are always trying to sell something on forums, kinda pathetic actually because most have no clue what their talking about. They don't look at this as a trade off, barter of information.

I like the journey in that it allows me to meet interesting people.

And to show people like Fred Boil that when he looks in the mirror and really sees what reality is that he begins to cry.

And when he looks at his image and looks over his shoulder he sees me..................laughing and mocking him.

Interacting with this board, and mostly interacting with my customers. Making them happy with clean carpet and upholstery. Oh, and the easy income......

I know this is going to sound kind of strange (maybe not considering I am on MB) but many of you mentioned how you like to make people happy through cleaning. I don't think this is communicated to your customers often enough. Being mostly a male group it seems sappy to say that to a customer but it goes back to the article I wrote about the reason why you are in this business. And while Richard may have said the hero part tongue in cheek, I know he really meant it. There are many people in different professions that can't say they get great pleasure in their jobs. We are all very lucky.

I love the fact that my performance directly affects my well being now instead of someone elses pocket. The satisfaction I get when I clean a rat nasty and can actually watch it transform. The Bond it has tightened between our family by being more involved with each other. The fact that we make an impact on peoples lives with how we conduct ourselves in the community and daily life. Meeting new people and establishing networks. The educational aspect keeps my mind occupied aswell.

What I don't like is the Ol Sam's Club Cleaner invading my bubble because he's jealous. Almost hired a lawyer over Deflamation but the Wifey rang his bell real good : )

Every job is like a yard sale.

Ok, Honestly, Unlike a lot of my friends working a 9-5 m-f their day starts by leaving the house at like 7:00-730 cuz, and many are not home till 7-7:30 commute in traffic.
My 1st job of often just mins away on local streets.
I'm often home before 5pm.
Meeting new people daily.
A pretty stress free way of making money.

I like to clean. It's a natural fit for me. I like the satisfaction that comes from working hard and doing a good job. I also like the toys, like Mikey said. Recently I bought a new Rotovac 360i, Cimex, and 175 machine. I love playing with these "toys". I like making biz decisions too. Like where to spend some of the extra $ coming in. I also love that my wife is able to be home with our 3 year old. I'm way more involved in all of their lives because of this gig. I'm able to dream big doing this and don't feel stuck working in a dead end job where someone else is profiting from my efforts.

For me the best part is having no boss (I was fired a few times from jobs I had when I was young, like, who would fire me? ), no employees (God, they did some stupid and annoying things), and knowing I can resurrect from the dead trashed carpets and furniture. Plus chicks dig carpet cleaners.

I've talked about this many times before but I love truly being my own boss (well kinda of sort of). I like the somewhat flexible scheduling, I no longer miss an important child event. I love that my wife can stay at home and be with the kids.

A big one is the instant self gratification that most customers/clients give and if they fail to do this you get it from yourself every time. Like in this case

I also like the the income potential and the fact that you can give yourself a raise whenever you see fit.

I am sometimes at the point as an O/O that I occasionally work the 70 hours a week that I used to put on week in and week out while in the restaurant business however now when I put in those kind of hours I know that I have been rewarded handsomely.

And last but not least I have met some truly awesome people in this business and like hanging out with you ole farts here.
