3339 hours. Engine's water pump might have 1400hrs on it. Antifreeze might've been 6-8oz low before I topped it off. And the Hyundai engine overheated in HP mode. It doesn't overheat in normal heat exchanger mode.

Any thoughts on why it overheated?

I think if it was a bad thermostat then it would overheat in both modes.

Any thoughts?

Check engine light sending signals?

I'd go through those diagnostic steps first.

I'm guessing you changed the water pump during a timing belt change?

I've never opened the petcock on the helicoil heat exchanger to bleed out any air, and today was the first day I did that. After I bled the air out, I was able to put about 12-14 more oz of antifreeze in the radiator.

And I checked the top hose on the radiator to see if the thermostat is operating as it should. and from the temp of the house after full temp of engine (too hot to hold), that tells me it's working correctly.

So I think it was just low on antifreeze. I never knew an air pocket in the helicoil could cause that. I'll give another update if any problems arise
