Not counting filling and dumping of buckets and carrying supplies around as a preteen in the 60's, I got my first paycheck for working in our dry cleaning plant, cleaning area rugs, as well as janitorial work, in 1973.
If any of you other "ancient ones" ever want to swap stories about those first "steam cleaning machines", chain driven (instead of belt) driven truck mounts, trying to explain to customers "where the dirt goes" when we shampooed things, and extracting sewage in sneakers, let me know!
Otherwise, I feel like the old guy who tells his kids "We hiked to school 2 miles up hill in 10 feet of snow, both ways, and we were grateful!"
Time flies.........
