Golden Boy

yep....I only take the cab over out just to run fluid threw it....and keep it fresh...other then that...I much rather take the van and the 570....

you are getting up and down in that box truck all day long....I have yet to craw up in the van for anything........

And easier to prevent from freezing...

Really?:eekk: A little tiny heater keeps my box truck from freezing. I've never froze my HX like that waldo guy has either...:stir: I think it was a $40.00 heater. I found my production and hourly profit went up significantly over my van. Everything is relative to the way you run your business i suppose.

Agreed! They both have their benefits.
I have been extracted apartments with a fiend for 2 days. Glad I have the Chevy over the V this week. I couldn't just use 1 park spot with box truck.

Over 70 units flooded so we are moving every 1-2 hrs for setups. Living the Dream!

I tried to make this argument years ago when the V craze was big. The only way a box is more efficient is if you dual wand. And I can do that with my tm.

Using a big truck isn't all about efficiency, it is also in some case about looking different than all the other companies especially when you charge higher rates than average.

We do feel we are more efficient with our Big Truck than we ever was with our van but to each is own IMO.

It's all about efficiency no matter what your driving....

this van carries everything that the box truck does....the box truck just carries more of it....

the van is a bit more efficient because I am not getting in and out of it all day long to grab something....

pros and cons.....

the box truck carries more hose for the big jobs....
van is a bit limited...

the box truck can turn on a dime...
you need a football field to turn the van.....

by the end of the day...getting in and out of that box truck gets old...
feet never leave the ground with the van....

that's about it....

at the end of the day...it's not about how you look that sets you apart....its about how well your do your job.....and what you drive is not a determination of your pricing.......

and if you want to make money...you better learn to be efficient...and you can make any set up efficient......

Box truck don't fit in my garage, Vans do! My gated community could get all CRAZY George on me if I left a truck parked out front in the drive way!

I guess I could move!

That's understandable Sam boxes don't work for everyone and if you can't keep it warm its a pain too. A separate garage works great, plus as a bonus it gives you room for other stuff like cleaning rugs.

The long haired hippie was saying it was easier and more efficient. I think he's wrong AS USUAL. :p

Most of the time I dont need a fresh tank but this year we have had many frozen water hook ups.

The vans are nicer. I am not sure I would go back a a box truck unless we were dual wanding everything again.

we just don't have the frozen pipe problems that most have and when the homes are empty..I think I have run across 3 in over 10 years where the water was off.....and I just rescheduled them....so for us...it is not worth hauling the weight and taking up the room..........

I wish I could go without a fresh water tank, I could use the extra space but we even have fresh tanks on the water trucks just in case they run into sewage or mud.

I spent 7 hours working a Ryan's the other night and I found myself wishing I had a 210 waste tank and some port holes. I came outside at 1:00AM to find some bum looking over my equipment. It was 15 degrees at the time.

That's what I miss about my Vortex. Secure everything while cleaning.

My rear setup is pretty secure. Misc equip Locked up side doors. Bulkhead keeps anybody out of front seats.

My Van is better MPG and faster transit. I have huge service area

7-hours, that's a big restaurant. 210 recovery is one of the best things I like about Butlers, and the can put them in extended vans as well as the boxes.

I'd say it is about efficiency, production rate, how you set your business and the image one wants to convey.

We all have different business models and as long as it works for us and we're honest with ourselves as to its advantages and disadvantages it's all good.

Nice to see you back Billy.
