A customer reclaimed some nice wall to wall wool from a hotel, and had it installed in a bedroom.
A slow drip under a radiator created the first problem area...

A second area somehow got wet, and was left under a drop cloth for an extended period of time........

I'm going to give the areas a gentle cleaning first, but I know my results will be very limited.
The customer understands that it may be a lost cause, but seems willing to get a little more aggressive.

Other than an oxidizer, and the associated risks using it on wool, any other thoughts??

How would you go about it??

Be extra careful as wool will rot if under prolonged exposure to water. It could disintegrate in your hands (wand).
Also many wool carpets have a jute foundation so there may well be browning.
I would not use an oxidizer as most chances it will fall apart. If you feel like you have to correct the color I would think a mild reducer will present less risk.

It looks damaged, be careful.

Slow leaks like that are the worst as far as damage. Perfect environment for mold (dark, damp, no air movement and cellousic food source) growth.
As back as the surface looks the backing could be worse and as Ofer mentioned the foundation damaged.

Thanks guys......I think the term "Rot" sums it all up.
Makes perfect sense that the structural integrity of the carpet fibers, foundation, and backing may also be compromised as well.
I might just pass on this and refer it to my repair guy for a big patch since the custy has a large roll left over.

I guess even if the appearance is improved, leaving a weakened fragile area over time will eventually become a problem.
