After 15 years of railroading I have decided to call it quits and work with my wife full-time in our business. I am extremely excited, but also extremely nervous. I have always had a guaranteed 6 figure income and benefits, but not having a quality of life and the mental stress was not worth it anymore.

We started our cleaning business in 2015 with my wife doing maid service. We were asked several times about doing carpet cleaning, so I bought a portable for $1500 and started adding carpet cleaning on my time off and have continued to add services and grow. We currently have 7 employees and 2 carpet cleaning TM's. We offer carpet cleaning, flood restoration, vacation home cleaning, lawn care, snow removal, hot tub maintenance, property management and post construction cleaning.

We started this business so that my wife could have flexible hours to go with my crazy work schedule and it really just started to snowball and take off.

Wish me luck as I pursue this new adventure!

Firstly, congratulations on making such a significant decision! It's clear that you've put a lot of thought into this and are prioritizing your mental health and quality of life, which is commendable.

Your business seems to have grown impressively since its inception in 2015 and it's great to see that you've diversified your services to include carpet cleaning, flood restoration, vacation home cleaning, lawn care, snow removal, hot tub maintenance, property management, and post-construction cleaning. This broad range of services not only caters to a wide variety of needs but also offers a safety net in terms of income sources.

As you transition from a guaranteed income to a more variable one, it's understandable that there might be some anxiety. However, it's important to remember that with your vast experience and the business foundation you've built with your wife, you are well-positioned for success.

In terms of advice, it might be beneficial to consider the following:

1. Cash Flow Management: Ensure that you have a solid understanding of your business's cash flow. This will help you anticipate any potential financial issues and plan accordingly.
2. Employee Engagement: With seven employees under your wing, it's important to keep them motivated and engaged. This could be through regular team-building activities, open communication, or offering opportunities for growth within the company.
3. Customer Satisfaction: As your business grows, ensuring customer satisfaction should be a top priority. This could mean investing in quality control or customer relationship management systems.
4. Networking: Make connections within your local business community. This can lead to potential partnerships, collaborations, or new clients.
5. Continuous Learning: The business world is constantly evolving. Stay updated on the latest trends and techniques in your industry to stay competitive.

Wishing you all the best in your new adventure! Remember, success doesn't happen overnight but with consistent effort, a clear vision, and a passion for what you do, there's no limit to what you can achieve.

There's no need to be nervous. 2 Reasons
1. Your wife is on board with you. She's the best partner in business anyone can have
2. Your business is already established. From your description, it seems that it could almost operate without you being there 100% of the time. Your already successful. I with I could say the same

Best wishes bro

That's such great news!

I've watched the birth, growth, and ...sadly...the deaths of more businesses than I can number over the past 47 years this business was a "full time gig" for me.

You have checked off all of the "success boxes"

Your future is bright

I agree with Matt about your wife/partner. Obviously you were in agreement with the direction before making the leap to quit #yourjob. On the flip side, it takes a special couple to work together 24-7. You really have to like each other. It works well when each have specific roles. In the beginning you just catch as catch can, but you’re past that I’m sure. Me and mine have done it together for 34 yrs. now. Blessings on your new venture.

She sounds alright to me
That's only when she dragged me along. I have spent many bored hours sitting in the mall waiting for her!! When I wasn't with her, she would buy clothes like crazy, both for herself and for me. It didn't matter to her if I liked the clothes she got me or not, she would just say they were on sale!

When we got divorced, I went through my clothes and donated over 30 some pieces of clothing that still had the store tags on them!

And ignore all the glide and pad machine sales messages from Mikey.
Buy what you need when YOU want to.
Jordan King, one of the most driven and successful biz owners I've seen in recent years just bought two hard surface wands, two trinities, a mound of glides, Brian himself and his top tech to our class in Texas last week and said it's the best class he's ever been to and he's been to every single class this industry offers more than once and he's now along with his dad tom, a keynote speaker in Greenville in March where I hope to see Nick sitting front and center as there's a ton to learn from those two..

My 1st wife loved to shop!! She would spend hours in stores and not buy a thing! Thankfully I chose wisely the 2nd go around!! We both abhor shopping, so get in, get what we want and get out as quick as possible!
I have the perfect match. She loves to shop.I don't. I take the dog for a walk, she goes shopping.

I definitely want to attend, but it's terrible timing. It's very close to state basketball and my son's team has a good chance of making it. I definitely can't miss that, but I might still buy a ticket to the Fest just in case. Some of the dates for basketball are still TBD. So if I can work it in I'll be there.

Fred Bot needs to go over to hard surface room and tell Matt how to approach that stinky vet floor. But I guess he’s chained to the Birdroom floor🤷🏼‍♂️
