Restretching problem

I don't stretch carpets anymore so I don't carry my mini. Today I was surprised when I arrived at a job and they were expecting me to put a wool back down. It had been pulled up half way to protect it while they were replacing some sheet rock. My knee kicker would not grab the carpet no matter how deep I set the teeth. It just slipped. What was I doing wrong?

Wrong tool.

Was it jute backed with very fine mesh?

There is an alternate head for a power stretcher (what you should be using anyway) that has a brush face instead of pins.

Like Lee said . A powerstretcher. Most likely using a cotton head.

thanks for the tip.i didn't know about the other head. i've only used the pins. yes it was a fine jute back. i don't do it anymore but it's nice to know.
