quick butler pump help please..

ok so the pump is a 435-3000 cat pump in a 07 butler..it has 4590 hrs on it..i am loosing pressure but not in the gauge.

when i fire up the pump i get a burst of good pressure then a second later is drops way down..wont even feed 5 jets on a want or spin a turbo..

the gauge reads the pressure i set though..the needle is bouncing a bit as well..

seal kit?

how bad are they to do?
anything i can do to test things?

check for supply side air leaks and clogged inline filters first

air getting in and flow choked by clogged filters/strainers/lines will cause similar symptoms

that was my first check..i even pulled of that strainer (1090) that i have never pulled off before to check it and it was perfect..changed the strainers on all the tools and all..all supply hoses are braided and in good shape..

Dave, it almost sounds like you have a plug at the brass block that the other 2 male connectors come off the front panel. Do you get good pressure at the hot water convience hose? I have had a couple of scaling problems due to the high heat. I believe you run RO water or similar,but it could be there. Can you hook a separate line to other hook ups off the front of the panel and get flow. The plug could be at the hose reel connector also. Just a few thoughts from my experiences.

Ive had a similar problem .. solution line wabbling, pressure guage up and down .. I pulled out my valves and had 2 out of 3 cracked cages .. easy fix

Oh and no wobble in line and no pressure drop on gauge just at delivery

It gives me good pressure for a sec then dropped way down but gauge reads what it's set for

on the pump head .. hexagon shape parts .. unscrew and carefully pull out the cages, valves etc.. dont drop anything ..look for fine cracks by lighty and carefully tugging on them

the gauge continues to read the set pressure after it drops at the tool? Sounds more like an unloader/bypass issue

Dave, it is a bit of work, but the line feeding the front panel block, if you can take off that line and see if it is pushing water, I still think that could be plugged. How was it at the hot water convienence? Does that push good water?

I hooked straight to the front panel and same exact thing.

The hot water access has been slowly getting slower over the last few weeks too

does the guage hold pressure when the tool is keyed? If it holds pressure when the no tools are keyed then you literly could have one piston out of 3 working properly.

They are super easy to fix btw. pull the two nuts. Remove the top manifold being careful not to let check valves fall out. Then pull each round cylinder off one by one, noting the direction it came off to put it back the same. Now your pump cups will be visible. on each one pull the cotter pin, then loosen the nut then pull off the top washer with little holes in it, the cup will come off now. New low temp cup kits will need to be installed on the cup fitting using the expanded tool that comes with the kit. High temp cups come permanently assembled and just have to be installed.

Just had to have one rebuilt also. There WERE air leaks, but the high pressure seals on one of the pistons was shot. Acted much like yours seems to be.
