We rescheduled all work for safety as we always do when in-climate weather moves in. We always let clients know when scheduling weather can force us to re-schedule that way if we do they aren't surprised. We have a rule that we will not risk our safety or our equipment for a job. We aren't an emergency service though so we can do this.

I did go out & start all our vehicles though just to warm them up.

When I was in my twenties and working in the northern Alberta oil patch I ran lots of equipment that was subject to freezing up. I ran a hotsy power washer in a box truck and did mostly thawing out frozen valves and load lines. I also ran tank trucks sucking water out of frozen lakes so i could pump that water on top of the lake to make ice roads. You should see how fast water freezes when pumped onto an ice road at -40 to-50 celcius. It freezes before it stops running. I also ran Vac Trucks and a variety of tanker combinations that were subject to freezing. I also ran many heavy trucks and their air systems and brakes are also subject to freezing. I very seldom had problems with equipment freezing up on me. Other guys were always freezing up. Knowing how to run your equipment under severe conditions makes freezing up not a problem at all.

I just ran my daughter home. Had to take her & the wife to Medasist and to get their prescriptions. And saw one of my water trucks headed back in.

I'm out spending it and thankfully they are out making it. They went out at 6:00, last one called in today.............so far. ; )

I'm suppose to be done with water damage, yet I am the only guy going out right now it seems. Just got back from an apartment building water. Just did the extraction, they are pulling carpet and pad. Not equipment needed yet. Caught it right away.

Had my main computer hard drive fry, so had to do a round trip 4 hour drive today for a new one. Brother in law just called as I was driving home from the water damage, so picked it up and now starting to try and fix programs that did not transfer properly.

Spent the early evening getting outside trucks started again and now trying to run them 15 minutes every couple of hours until I go to sleep.

Had the vac hoses freezing up tonight, pulled the filter in the box to keep that from freezing....just frickin miserable!!!

I am really hating the cold and all the other BS that is going with it. I am a big old crab a** right now!!!

Gonna go find some cheese for dinner now to go with my wine.....

Its definitely worth some consideration. Especially with those property management companies you work for. Your hourly would work fine for extraction. I'll have some stuff for you at MF 10 but if you want something before then email or PM me.

Hey Richard, when you get a call to the military base do they let you get started or do they take estimates and then hire the cheapest contractor?
Depends on what it is. Carpet cleaning they takes estimates and are cheap. Emergency work they care more about if you are capable and realize that comes with a price. They just need to know a ball park so they can get approval.

The tough part is security, they have to do a background check on you before they let you on base, which can take 20-30 minutes. Fortunately we have a couple of guys that already have the passes that are good until Sept 2014 since they were working on a mold job there a few months back. So then they just check the truck and they are allowed on the base.
