Welcome Pat.
As a happy and frequent DFC user, could you tell me what is the actual difference between DFC 105 and DFC 210?

105 is a liquid and 210 is a powder. 105 carries the 'Wool Safe' & Green Seal Certified + more green labels. 210 does not. (Less).

Are both wool safe?
Does the Green Seal Certificate on 105 means that it is "greener"?
Should DFC 210 not be used on wool? Just as a pre pray?

Could you provide more specific information about these good products?

Welcome! My guess on the dfc product is if there's a ph difference.

That would make one wool safe and the other not.

Chemspecworld.com has PDFs and product info to.

Sam, I know how to read their product sheet. I'd like to think that my grand total of three years in elementary school were not totally wasted :winky: The info is not there.

Nice to have a Pat from Chemspec here, to clarify.

Ofer;

I was told by the national sales rep that they just didn't renew the wool-safe certification on the 210 product.

I do think it is a good "green" prespray.

Thanks Larry,
I've never seen the wool safe label on 210 and JonDon's "Planet Guard" traffic lane cleaner, which is rumored to be the same product, does not have it either.

I was told by a supplier that 105 and 210 are almost identical save for one chem.
If that is the case, why not use 210 as a rinsing agent for wool, as it seems to clean much better? And it makes no sense to use 210 as a pre-spray and rinse with 105 if it is pretty much similar.
If I understand correctly the 210 starts more on the alkaline side (boosts cleaning) and than self neutralizes.

Be good to get the official explanation. I'm hoping pat will clarify.

DFC

I am sorry it took so long to get back to you, I have been on the road of late.

Here is the info you wanted:

Chemically both products are quite similar:
• Both are based on soda ash, citrate, and lactate. We can discuss the significance of that some time.
• Neither have any surfactant
• Neither have a solvent or fragrance content.

Here are the differences:

• DFC105 is indeed a liquid and has all the major certifications. It is used both as a prespray and as a rinse. Because the pH is lower than 10, it is eligible for Woolsafe but is also going to be a bit less effective on more heavily soiled carpet.

• DFC210, being a powder, is more concentrated and has a higher pH so it is better for more heavily soiled traffic lanes. The pH is above 10 thus it will not qualify for Green Seal or Woolsafe.

I hope that helps
