Jim or other upholstery experts.
1) How much shrinkage in natural linen can you correct?
2) Method?

Cleaned a heavily soiled natural (brown side) linen. Cleaned beautifully, cushions shrank quite a bit.I thought I would spray with "Faultless" or "Spring crest" (could be downey with rubbing alcohol) and stretch (bend) from both sides.

  1. How much can it be stretched?
  2. How much pressure on cushions can I put?
  3. How wet with fabric relaxant do I need to get it?
  4. Spray on outside of cushion or inside?

Should be able to correct it all. You could see if you could borrow a cushion stretcher, but they're pretty rare.

You can also sew the cushions together side to side, clamp one end and hang, clamp the other end and hang a bucket of water from it. Spray water or steam at the fabric until the cushions stretch back to size.

I'll leave the pre-test chiding to others. Good luck.

We use a jiffy steamer and just push and stretch the fabric, working the cushions across all sides. I had one that drew up 4-inches or more. The guys laughed and said you could store books in the gap. With work and time it did all come back.

Take the cushions off site, if you can without making a scene measure the space needed. Then you know how much you need to steam them.

Take your time.
Good luck

I have had more success with steam than "chemical relaxers" when its that bad. What Bryan, Richard, and Demien said otherwise.

I strongly suggest talking to a good dry cleaner. Having someone who works with steam and stretching on a regular basis rather than you trying it yourself the first time is well worth whatever he will charge you.

Place drapery hooks every 1/4" between the cording and cushion on both ends of cushion. If the cushion has 2 cords at each end, place the hooks in each cord. Put a rod through the hooks on both ends, but first put a couple buckets on the bottom rod(s).
Hang the top rod(s)to suspend the cushion. Wet out the cushion and partially fill the buckets with water to weigh down, slightly stretching the fabric. Repeat by re-wetting and putting more water in bucket until desired stretch is acheived.

or bring them to me

Thank you Joe, I appreciate it. I'll try it and see how it goes.
It does not have a cording so I may just hold both sides with clamps (plastic ends) and do as suggested.

Do they stretch fairly fast or does it need some time to hang?
I assume you hang till dry so that they do not shrink back.

P.S. No need to bring anything to Joe, Mike. We already jointly own a humus truck.
