called a prospective client today, i did a free demo for them 2 weeks ago. they had to get 2 other bids.

"i had to get 3 quotes. after you came out we had SS come out, guy was SCARY looking...we passed. then we had Cintas from a nearby city to the West. [i googled it, 1hour 7 minutes away] so he drives out and says $1000 minimum. i tell him that's too much. he says 'well we could clean your T&G to' - i tell him that i didn't want my T&G cleaned....we passed on him to. you're hired."

:eekk:

life must be good for mr. Cintas.

little over an hour drive isn't nothing if you mostly do CGD. does Cintas do resi work to?

Bad info. Cintas will drive further than that for just a few hundred.

My snobbish ass on the other hand wants $1500 to drive an hour or more.

if you can get it, more power to you...this is a luxury service imo. i was shocked at the amount tho. makes me feel good about my measly $120

maybe they're franchised and that location's owner can set his own pricing.?.

no i probably wouldn't that far, unless it was for a big client that i wanted to keep happy. 1:45 is our furthest client a.t.m., and we clean 3 banks when we are out there. so it hasn't been an issue as of yet.

I can see that, factoring 2.5 hours round trip before for a crew of non production time. how much could they have made in that 2.5 hours, fuel cost to drive that big ole beast 120 mile, wear and tear on the vehicle. I'd want at least $400.00 just to cover the trip, not counting the profit I'd want to make for the effort.

Last month we did (3) water losses in KC an hour from us, one turned out to be 5K the other two were around a thousand. The ticket size of WDR work made the trip reasonable but to go that far for $400.00-$600.00 I wouldn't do it.

Not bragging its more risk vs reward. What if we have a breakdown with the truck, they cleaning unit, a Cimex splits a pad driver, just a million things could go wrong. *We did have a flat tire on a Transit when they were monitoring a job in KC. Fortunately they were able to fix it.

it's only a 45 min drive for me. 1:07 for him.

i hand pick each and everyone of the facility's that i offer the demo to and take on as a client, so i have a fairly good idea of the size before hand. thus far i have never had a prospective CGD client call me, i have found each via canvassing.

it's only 2400 sq.ft. of carpet. would'a taken them 1-2 hours of actual work time.

y'all just admit it, you've never heard of such a high minimum before...and that's not that far of a drive, relative to what part of the country you live... :p

Oh hell no not for 2400sq/ft, they didn't want to do it either.

We do clean a convention center twice a year that is an hour away but they have 22,000sq/ft.

I have a $1,500 minimum for a 3 hour drive one way. Been to that location 3 times, for what they have cleaned it's always been double the minimum.

Yes, two of the times we got a hotel and was told to add it to the bill. The first time we went up we did it all in one day , it was their smaller house (8,600sqft) , The second time we went up was for their newly purchased house (15,000sqft) , that was a two day cleaning and we got a room , and the third time up we went a day early to avoid a snow storm because they needed it done on the day they scheduled for, they didn't care if we got stuck up there , they didn't want to re schedule.
