Reminded me of the drunk cartoon character hiccuping between words.

Stopped watching when he started to use the wand thingy!

His wand had a bypass on it that was removed, well some of the bypass fittings are still there, but plugged... Why wold you do it like that?

I know... to scratch the custy's furniture...

He is still better than this Guy and his Toy...

Just goes to show you, everybody is a professional these days...

Wow!

I'm gonna have my guys watch this just to see why we do what we do!

They already know, but still, great enforcement of why to never let down on offering quality and the look of quality.

Read all your comments before watching. I was really expecting to see some hack. I really can't see why you guys are knocking him. Compared with what's out there he seems to have a pretty good idea of what's going on. Dry Vac, prespray, prescrub, rinse/extract, he's even using an acid rinse. As he said, he was just doing a basic cleaning, wasn't giving it a scrub. Even using a inline filter. He does need a glide with that wand and a more professional look though.
Are you guys really doing anything different if you had a job like that?

Some of the differences I am sure we are striving to obtain:

Uniformed look with uniforms (and with a logo)

Corner guards.

will agitate no matter what (mechanically).

Not beat up my wands so there is a big dent in the back (like on his).

Yes, glides, check valve extenders....

Not belittle the client about how much soil is in their carpets with our comments. Reassure them that it can be surprising how much soil is in a carpet (look at his website and some other videos for that comment too).

Wouldn't empty my filter on their drive way (have a bag there if you are going to open it up for them)

Would have logo or decal on vans (again as well as uniform) for customer comfort and identity of your company.

Did he really prevac?

Just a few quick thoughts that came into mind, and small things, but add up to larger things.

My wife's comment was, would you feel comfortable with him showing up at the house if you were not home and no uniform? His personality was too casual in her opinion. Needed a bit more professionalism, and again the way he dressed and showed up, he had a lot of work to do.

I guess viewing a women's perspective, she felt uncomfortable and again, "she said you would have a hard time wondering if he was really part of or owned a company".

I pre spray, scrub and rinse in a thorough, uniform pattern.
Not just here there and everywhere.

RotoVac has a 360i video like this! Chick is just walking around spraying here and there , then the guy shows up and starts cleaning at the closest point to the door.

Did he even complete a full dry stroke ?
Guy has the tools, but lacks severely in his abilities. Needs more classes : )

I'd tend to agree with Ron. While his presentation is a bit rough, he is just hacking out apartments. That's normally over worked and under compensated work.

I'd also agree with Mark, if he were cleaning residential, uniforms and no or less facial hair and he would fit in a home setting better.

They guy looks like he is trying to do a good job and is probably a great value for the service.

I only watched the first couple of minutes. He sounded like he had a few drinks on the way to the job.

I have met people that sound like they are drunk even when they are not. If that's the case with him, have someone else narrate the video.

And I don't care what the purpose of the video is, put on a uniform! Obviously it's on Youtube, so there is the chance a potential customer will see it.

Honestly, seem like a nice enough guy trying to do a good job but was certainly uncomfortable/nervous in front of the camera.
Bottom line is if his customers are happy and he's happy all is good.

he did lack a lot wrt professionalism, and looks like he was auto dumping onto the rocks. Couldn't see a dent in his wand though.
AND he DID GROOM the carpet!!

Dent was in back at the opening to where the hose hooks on.

This video was ok, but I went to his website and looked at a couple other videos and that is probably where we got a bit of "less than desirable" feelings about him.

We think he actually has more of an accent than "been drinking", but you never know...LOL.

On his website, he is pretty tough on how dirty a carpet is, pretty much saying it in front of the client. We all can clean some pretty "Soiled" carpets.

We take a philosophy of trying to be a bit more gentle on the client (especially if they are there) and tell them there can be a lot of soils hiding in the carpet.....or we will try to make them feel better when they are embarrassed even by just saying something to the effect, "we see this a lot and it is ok....not unusual". "We appreciate the opportunity to help out." Something to that effect.

Not, "Wow, I would be going to the hospital for shots and other help with dirty carpets like that"! That was something to the effect he said in one of his other videos on his website.....

And I do like the fact he did groom too :)

Anyway, it is what it is and just a moment we can all look at and try to continue to make ourselves better.

Have a great day!

Mark

the 2nd time I watched it I noticed his voice, wondered the same thing

good eyes Mark. from where that dent is it probably fell over at some point. I've got a small dent in the pipe of my wand too. Ah well.

some good, some bad, some needs improvement points.
