How long do you trust it?

I run 100' leads off my vans, prefer not to have connection in the standard sized house.
Never had a burst, but I replace lead hose yearly.
My lead is 11 months old. never a concerns besides yesterday, doing a large house, carpet and tile, Tile Master, farest from the door, I had 75' of my lead hose laid out in the home cleaning tile at 1000 psi.. Mid hose burst could be a disaster.

How often do you trust your lead hose?

ready to switch to Parker on the AT, the Chinese braided crap that I mistakenly choose over Neptune is leaving blue dye everywhere. Prespray is eating away at it.

AT and any other company that makes a unit that can go over 270 degrees can't supply Parker Parflex for obvious reasons

I have never had a Goodyear hose burst on me. Not once in 26 years. I HAVE had Black Death twice on hoses over two years old. As a result of that, I start seriously thinking about replacing it after a year, and normally have done so no later than 18 months.

Guess I will stick with my rotation.. I resell used hose on CL, advertised as it is.. Year old, about 600-700 hrs on it. Sells every time.

Had blowouts at various times when using the live reels on the V. I also replace the lead hose of 100' every spring. Since switching trucks to the PC that doesn't have live reels I curl figure 8's loosely and hang on the side. Have been using it now for 2 years with no hint of a problem. So I recommend not using live reels to store your solution hoses and extend your hose life

Numerous blowouts with Goodyear and black death several times.

Parflex has served me much much better. Hotter water at the wand too, since you don't have a steel braid robbing all your heat.

I start thinking of changing my Neptune after a year usually get around to it after 18 months or so. I started doing that after I had a blowout about a year or so after starting my business. I started with used equipment so I have no idea how old the hose was but I did know I didn't want it to happen again. I do use mine on a live reel but I'd rather buy new hose every 1-1.5 years than ditch my live reel. Also my tm doesn't get very hot so its not as hard on the hoses as some of you guys fire breathers.

This is why I have never used anything but Ryco Tornado rated for 310 degrees. My legal advice given to me was if I ever had a failure using the wrong hose my liability would be much higher. I also recently during the new design decided it was time to replace all hoses with stainless braided which has dramatically changed the Jets & filters clogging. I only have two hoses left to change to stainless now.

I have found if I replace ends as soon as I see any problems loosing a few inches this helps the life of the hose. I also rotate the ends of the around of the hose when ever I have new ends crimped.

Incidentally all my hose is live accept for extension lengths.

We also have used allot of GY Neptune including the current low heat live reel with appx. 400' live on it.

I always check the ends for any visible issues replacing as necessary. Now our neptune we have now is original to truck with original ends but we only use for protector & low heat jobs.

The closest experience we have ever had to Black Death was on our old SpitFire & it was a little water discolored with a black tint which seemed to be a early warning of failure. Now my SpitFire produced wimpy heat so not sure if this would be a good example.

We switched away from GY innept hose many years ago.

We use European hose that is rated for 275-300 degrees (we rate @ 260),

it far outlasts the inner tube of the 250' variety.

Mikey: According to Mr.Bristor:
For that reason, I recommend RYCO Tornado™ . . . This is the only hose Aerotech sells with their new truckmounts. This is the only hose Aerotech sells with their new truckmounts.
Is this the hose with the blue coming off ?

back when I ran goodyear it was a new set of hoses pretty much every year. my paraflex lead hose is finally done after 9 years. now granted I don't put alot of hours on my machine. but from a cost standpoint paraflex is by far the only way to go. mikey maybe you need to think about no using 270 degrees, 230ish is plenty

GY is only hose I have ever used.

12-18 mths lead hose is replaced.

Few years ago I had hose shop recrimp some old stuff. 1ft back it looked like new.

Usually have a good section cut back with swivels added for Hydro Force

How about using a 3/8 line for doing high pressure tile cleaning ... will that make a difference in preventing a blowout ..

Or you could use a hide a hose for high pressure cleaning .. any bursting will be vacuumed away ..

I love my par flex .. new lines are hard to tame but still love it ..

I used an old 50ft section of the blue braided bandit for a long hose run and as I was pre-spraying, I noticed the white carpet turning black .. I was like holy shit - but luckily it washed right out .. because of that and other black death issues, I always replace with par flex

I bought some blue Kodiak crap line from Cobb years ago and the line was so hard to pull, it was giving the carpet rug burn .. It might even have left a slight blue tint if I remember right .. I used it for 1 day and hung it out to dry

I failed to mention that I bought some parflex and used it for awhile, but hated tripping on the coils and having them knock stuff off of shelves and get hung up on chair legs, etc.

And I just can't help but laugh every time I read where someone says they coil their hoses up by hand.

However, I realize things are different in Kentucky. After all, that's where PadPrick is from.

The Blue wire-braid hose we switched to is a smooth cover hose.

No marking issues at all.

ALL blue wire braided hose after a year of use will mark concrete due to pump pulse vibration and abrasion.

Usually doesn't mark carpet.

I still use Goodyear Neptune, but I use 3/8 inch instead of 1/4 inch. I get it at Windtrax. My lead hose is 110 feet. That extra 10 feet comes in handy almost every day. Sometimes 100 feet is just a little short. since I use that hose everyday, I will replace about once per year. I sometimes run high temperatures so feel the need to stick with this type of hose.

I have always used Goodyear because the flexibility. Great hose but it will blow out which makes for a black mess in the home. Mine blow about every three to five years. Only trick I can suggest is make sure you have the ends covered well next to the coupler because that's where they usually blow from the bend of the wand. Use the black slide over cover as well as tape. That will at least keep the damage from shooting all over the home.

Good luck!

Been using Goodyear since 2000, best price is Windtrax.

Always get the grey hose and purchase new 120' lead hoses every 18 months

3-5 years!?!

I replace my lead 100' yearly.. Just replaced it, the old one did develop a weak spot, I normally sell my used hose on ebay, cheap full discloser. It sells, this last hose went into the trash.
