Do you always acid etch before you apply sealer?

Because I don't always do it, and in fact rarely have to or feel the need to etch before sealing. I do a fair amount of tile and seal almost all grout I clean as I believe if it is not sealed, it is a rip-off to the customer and will resoil extremely quickly depending conditions.

never before a penetrating sealer, no need to really. Almost always prior to color sealing. I know, GP says no need with their stuff. Well I believe prep is key for ANY coating. I want to create the best possible conditions for long life.

If I'm etching it's not usually for grout prep but to remove the last bit of staining.

I always etch it.... unless they don't want it sealed and the grout looks good after just using alkaline
